  1. Hehehe ur younger boy s happy walking around with d cows n ur backyard 🙂

  2. Sad to hear about your goose. I am as hoing it would have survived. I was wondering if there would be any reason why you could not harvest it and use it for food?

  3. I may be off here, but I think your milking platform needs a some adjustment. The way Monica was sitting twisted around I believe could cause pain-maybe strained or pulled muscles-not only for her but when you adults do the milking I think you’ll feel the pain. Monica just seems like a very sweet young lady btw. All your kids are cute and I can hardly believe how Wilder has grown and has been adding to his vocabulary. Your garden is looking great!

  4. I don't know if you can answer this question but my niece and her husband is thinking about raising 5 cows on there land and its 6 acres and I don't know how much land that would be but is it possible too raise that many I told them it would cost them more too raise them because they would have to buy more hay and grain but I was just wondering

  5. I have planted about 200 like this, they are growing well. I was able to buy at a local nursery, I didn't research I just trusted they would have the kind that grow here, time will tell. The garden is always teaching me. Humility is a good thing I find. I keep finding it over and over. 🙂

  6. Thank you Bri for sharing about the onion. I ferment my onions to help me keep them good through the winter. Love your videos 👍👍❤️

  7. I find your channel today, love goats, I am from Ukraine and we have more than 25 when I was there. Now I live with my family in Waynesville NC. Are you live in Asheville?!

  8. Walla walla inions typically are not good for storage. I live near walla walla and I would not choose it for a long term storage onion.

  9. Dixondale is a great place to get your onions. I have been getting my onions from them since 2012. Family owned, fair prices and good people to do business with. Great content keep up the great work!

  10. I cure my onions on a drying rack than braid them, hang the bundles in the cellar. I just ate my last onion a couple weeks ago. I also cut up a bunch and freeze them so I have year round onions from my garden. Good luck on your harvest!

  11. So, why don't you do half onion sets, and half the dormant ones? And just make sure you use up the sets first? Or do they go bad that quickly?

  12. Sorry about the goose. Talking about onions, my father was great with onions and dried them off on an old metal bed . After he was satisfied they had properly dried off he would plait and string them and hang them in a cold dark small store room. Mother never had to buy an onion. He was a good gardener and I wish I had been more interested in gardening growing up. I guess school then work got in the way. You are both doing a fantastic job with your children. Homesteading and homeschooling is great for them xxxxx Margaret in Cyprus

  13. I think I'm falllin' in love with your goats. When Monica called for her babies and her kids saw her and reacted with excitement made my heart smile. I know this sounds silly but I'm excited for Bri and her onions. I'm sorry to hear about the goose but glad she didn't suffer. Blessing all. 🙂

  14. Onion sets put more energy into flowering to set seeds then growing a bulb, sweet onions do not store well, and how I remember day lengths for onions, above equator long day, below equator short day near equator indeterminate. Long day requires more day length needing more sunlight, and short day obviously less day light, they will grow long in short day and short in long day the just won’t do as well. Enjoy your videos thanks for sharing your journey🌱🥬🥦🥒🥕

  15. We planted candy onions for several years. We just stuck them in the ground and they grew. We did not put any fertilizer on them. We just kept them weeded. We lived in north central Indiana where we had a fairly short growing season. But the Candy onion became our favorite. Partly because we had to do so little with them. Our soil was very organic but mostly clay. We used no fertilizer or compost. We did put some goat manure on our entire garden a couple of times a year. We raised goats so we had a ready supply.

  16. Walla Walla sweet onions don't keep well as a rule. We always had more than one variety because of that. You are doing a wonderful job on your homestead! You have such a beautiful place and your family is wonderful! Keep up the great videos! I live in Washington state, home of the Walla Walla sweet onion!

  17. I love Dixondale! Not only are their starter onions great quality, but they are awesome about sharing knowledge and answering questions! And, all the information/questions Bri mentioned is readily available on their website. I plant some from seed (we start in fall here in Charlotte, NC, zone 8) and get the varieties I want from Dixondale. They send them at the perfect time for planting.cant saw enough great things about them!

  18. MIss Bri, I live in southern Pa. the Candy onion grows huge here…. they will get larger than a soft ball and are usually very sweet . I mean they are rarely hot, and go great on sandwiches. ….they do not keep well in long term storage, so eat them first…. make good Blooming onions or fried onion rings. They don't like to get real dry so mulch or water them. Best wishes for a great crop.also keep them fertilized I use organic like compost. If they are crowded it makes smaller onion bulbs….If they don't have 5 or 6 inch spacing use some for green onions at dinner

  19. Hi Bri I know you like Nubans but you might like to try a Nigerian dawrf for creamy milk a good milking line should have between 6-10% buttermilk

  20. Bri, I grew Candy onions last year and was very pleased with them! I just did not grow enough and they stored excellently.

  21. Candy onions are great! every year I plant 15 bunches like you're holding. I've been gardening for 43 years. When you plant them, they only like their roots in the ground. Rot always comes in from the top. I dry my onions out when the tops start to fall over before and after I harvest them to trick them into thinking they are dormant. Walla walla onions do NOT store well.

  22. Nice milk… onions num..
Grace is growing up so fast… beautiful young lady..
    Bummer about the goose..
Wilder's smile is just so contagious..

  24. Hello ART and BRI… I'm late to the channel but wondering, are you planning on building a home or is this your permanent living place? For those of you who are subscribers, please up date me … why are they breeding geese?

  25. I buy from Dixon every year. I never have a problem. I grew such big onions last year! They are awesome.
