  1. I so agree that the homestead, sustainable lifestyle is not.only physically nourishing but mentally nourishing. However, creating a basically closed system except for the education you share, and not participating in the cultural struggle for liberty in a way that can be an example to others (Doug and Stacy) can be dwtrimental to maintianing a healthy society providing freedom to all over the world. We all need to stand for the culture we want to see but not just gloss over the culture that exists in order to keep "peace". Please take a stand, however you can, instead of what could be perceived as keeping peace for clicks alone.

  2. As a veteran homeschooler who began in the early 80s, I understand having no mentors. Makes you stronger and God always provided.

  3. When my late husband and I let the world know that we decided to get married, my daughters ex mother in law told me that I 'need to make that man buy you a biiiig diamond'. I told her that the only thing I MAKE him do is smile. She didn't know what to do with that.

  4. A constant head nodding episode listening to this! Listening to these episodes makes me want to do so much more and teach so many more people.

  5. Thank you! I’m 52, I know my grandma canned stuff…as she did, until she couldn’t. 😢

She taught my mother, who had NO interest in it whatsoever!

I can, pressure can because of people like you on YouTube! 🤗🤗🤗🤗

  6. I got so excited when I saw that Jess was on. I love watching her videos because she is so inspirational and motivational. Love having both of you in the same video ❤

  7. I love it! I am diving into this lifestyle myself. One of the many things that really confuses me about society (ha ha) is that people ARE waking up to the horrifying things that have been put into our food supply, and water supply too. But they still trust the Healthcare System, when the chemical companies for the food industry, are the very same companies in bed with the Pharma companies. It is just one big rabbit hole that makes you realize, we need to take care of ourselves!

  8. My discouragement is because both my fiancee and I are physically disabled, we are also very poor. We want so badly to go have a homestead for our 2 year old daughter but we are stuck in Southern California and have no way out.

  9. Thank you both for everything you do. It means so much! I’m so glad that both of you wonderful ladies share your knowledge with the world. Sending you big hugs!!

  10. Thank you so much ladies. I thoroughly enjoy watching and learning some many things from both of you. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many people. I started gardening a few years ago and my husband and I bought a few acres and are working slowly but surely to try and develop it. We work full time and don't live near by our property but we know that we will get there. It takes a lot of work and dedication. I enjoy watching your videos because it continues to inspire me to keep going. I feel a deep connection when it comes to gardening and visiting my property to the earth but most importantly to GOD. There is so much joy and love when you grow your own food. We may not live on our property yet but we are learning how to garden using the small space we have. To anyone looking to garden its so worth it. It's a lot of work and trial and error but it's so worth. I'm so glad that I'm doing this and teaching my children. Thank you both 🥰🙏

  11. I was born in Detroit. A farm was something we went on field trips to. It was something my mom told us stories about her grandparent's farm she spent her childhood at. But when she and my dad married, it was city living from then on. I lived in apartments once I was on my own, but wanted to live in the country. I'd spent summers at my grandmother's house and she could, and did grow everything. I was in heaven there. She gave me my own garden and let me watch her preserve food. I finally found an old farm to rent on 10 acres and loved it. That first summer, I planted an acre of vegetables and there was an apple and pear orchard. Unfortunately, the house hadn't been maintained and the bathroom fell into the basement. So I moved again into a house with no yard and was miserable. I now have a house of my own, and the property is gradually becoming a permaculture food forest. I grow and preserve about 90% of what I eat. I love this life. My daughter just bought her own house with property and she had her first big garden this summer. I'll continue growing and improving my food production every year and be completely happy and content in this lifestyle.

I am 69yo and have been on this gardening journey for 5 yrs. since moving to GA! I grew up in California and the question I keep asking is, “Why didn’t any one teach me these things!?”😮
