What is Roselle and Why We Love it

Roselle is best known as “hibiscus tea.” In this episode, we harvest our Roselle shrub. Roselle is a type of hibiscus that thrives in places with full sun. The flowers are exquisite but it’s the calyx that is harvested for teas, food, and coloring. And did you know that the young leaves and tender shoots are also edible? They can be eaten raw in salads or cooked as greens either on their own or with other leafy greens. In a previous episode, we showed you how to plant Roselle with cuttings. In this episode, we show you how we planted Roselle seeds and how long it took us to see these beautiful calyces.
