Do this now for success in your organic spring and summer garden!
Soil building is the key to the success in your garden for control of insects and diseases. Now is the time to begin working on your soil and getting it ready for your spring planting which is not too far away.
We dug swales and plant on top of the swales. That might work for you too. We got the same soil too. We've got plenty of manure too! Cow, chicken, whatever we need in fresh supply! π Oh, and I think you're right about the wheat: neighbor did their field in wheat but they planted it before all the rain came in. It came up, but ours haven't yet. We planted shortly after.
Good stuff Jill…I've been pretty busy with must-do's. Plan on grabbing a friend to go compost shopping hopefully next week. We'll see who has what and their prices. Get it out there in the garden and then concentrate on the seed starting. My garden is outdoors–no high tunnel. If I put out the compost now, would it be best to plant a cover crop or leave it bare? Or maybe cover it with leaves (if I can get enough leaves.) Thanks for all your help—-Jesus bless.
Nice weather to work in! Does Greg ever broad fork? I was talking a couple of day ago with someone that does that. First time garden, you must till, but then after that, you broad fork, then laydown the fresh organic matter and go from there.
Hi Jill..I stayed in all day. Got a chill and couldn't shake, don't want to get sick. Missed tree lighting in Denton tonight, but it couldn't be helped. Always enjoy your videos!! Have a wonderful weekendπ₯°ππ
Excellent information. Can't wait to see what happens with the front yard after this latest cover crop. Lots more work this weekend then on to seed starting for the Spring in a couple of weeks. Blessings!

Love learning from you! Following along on a small scale in Ft.W.π
Have you tried gypsum to help break up the clay?

Can you explain why I need to terminate the rye grass please?
Thanks
