West Virginia | New River Gorge National Park

This nature travel guide to camping and hiking in new river gorge contains all you need to know for learning about the wilderness of West Virginia, all within this story of adventure as I return from my east coast road trip. We’ll learn about natural processes of the forest, important roles of native wildlife, some geology of the river, and all about this major watershed within the Appalachian mountains. I’ll bring you on a tour of my favorite camp spots, too picnic areas, favorite waterfall hikes, and best trails to scenic viewpoints – catching some deer sightings, a cold creek swim, and a beautiful sunrise along the way. Visiting in the off season was an amazing time to see the beautiful transition from autumn to winter – so quiet and peaceful that I wouldn’t have wanted to visit during other seasons!
