The Bitcoin revolution – How it all began | DW Documentary

Bitcoin is the world’s first cryptocurrency. It’s also the most important and popular of its kind. Launched in 2009, the Bitcoin blockchain’s creator used the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. His (or her) true identity remains a mystery to this day.

In early 2009, in the midst of the financial crisis, someone named “Satoshi Nakamoto” started circulating Bitcoin. In doing so, they created the first decentralized and reliable cryptocurrency. Whoever they are, they vanished into thin air in 2011.

“The Satoshi Mystery” tells the thrilling story of how Bitcoin came to be. Examining blockchain technology from the perspective of its secretive creator, the film seeks answers about one of the most mysterious figures in the crypto world. But is “Satoshi Nakamoto really just one person? No one is certain. Theories abound, and there’s no way to rule out a collective. Some even suspect that the CIA could be behind Bitcoin.

One thing’s for sure: the Whitepaper “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” is reshaping the world far beyond the creation of a new payment system.

  1. Satoshi Nakamoto is actually four people, they were interviewed by Homeland Security several years ago. Their identities have been concealed.

  2. masterpiece documentary the bitcoin currency which has revolutionise the block chain technology and digital currency market I think the potential of the bitcoin is still huge although the prices are expensive there would be a prospective buyer.

  3. Satoshi didnt say 80% of the things this narrator is saying. What a sham that you are leading to believe Satoshi said these things.

  4. Craig S Wright is Satoshi! Ask Gavin Andresen, Joh Matonis, Ian grigg and more. They have all openly said Craig is Satoshi through cryptographic and social proof.

  5. Anyone have any idea what software was used to make this show. I love the look of the cartoonish style.

  6. Satoshi did a favor for Harold and the cipher punks. Harold and the Team needed an external IP. And the team took care of all the writing. Craig wright is a fraud and the only reason the times was published. Was because the team asked Satoshi to say something. Great video. Lol. That's my opinion.

  7. Satoshi Nakamoto is Craig Steven Wright and BSV (Bitcoin Satoshi's Vision) is the real Bitcoin!

  8. We humans need to understand that to live on this planet Earth or anywhere in the cosmos, we must have an accurate knowledge, understanding of the laws of nature
The laws in the land should coincide with the laws of nature, in that way, humans will be able to continue spreading life anywhere.
Some people think total freedom is doing everything they want good or bad, is actually same value as ignorance. Ignorance cause sorrows, pain, death, destruction.
It is understandable why bitcoin heart is being put temporarily in life support.
Who said we do not have freewill? Yes we have freewill. But remember, scientific laws exist. Those who run their lives without rules, suffers the consequences.
All of us are ignorant one way or the other. But once we finally understood things, we must applied it in our daily lives.
We are in the world of scientific laws. If we want to live, let us follow the laws.
I personally admired the maker of bitcoin. He humbled himself. That is truly a real intelligent brilliant persona!

  9. Considering Bitcoin could go to 0 like the 20 000 other cryptos, or he loses his private key, Satoshi Nakamoto would be an idiot to leave his 1 million Bitcoin in his wallet, so that makes least sense & what happens to his Bitcoin when he dies

  10. No matter what the current market price is, Bitcoin goes on. The idea is slowly taking root, and when people realize it, they want it. Pay and be paid in bitcoin, then you will achieve complete freedom: No banks, no State, they become optional. Bitcoin is borderless, it is the money of the world.

  11. Bitcoin environmentally unfriendly? Not when compared to mining gold, which every year costs hundreds of people their lives and causes extreme damage to the environment.

  12. Excellent work. Greetings from El Salvador. We are working hard to make of our small nation an economic success story that will be replicated, first by other developing nations, and eventually by the rest of the world.

  13. Nice documentaries from your channel. Though furious you turned off the comments section of how poor people live in USA.

  14. The only thing this revolutionized is how fast you can go from billionaire to broke. It’s all volatile BS.

  15. In my opinion it must be forbidden for the media and goverments to speak bitciont founders name. Back in the day you people where sick… Tell the people how you hunted him,, put money on his head, closed borders, FBI and MI6 on his tail. Sepres goverments , Try to get him to court,. and even try to kill him…. It was all over the news back then. And the self proclaimed right that people had to do all of this and more ….. discusing ….specialy when he comunicated that he wanted to be left alone….. thats all …it still breaks my heart

  16. Another great documentary by DW! But my question still remains, what is the fate of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? Devoid of any answers, Bitcoin seems like the perfect currency only for a certain class of people. It doesn't function as a currency for the rest of us.

Devoid of any satisfactory answers again, the cypherpunks may have just unleashed one of the greatest blunders to society because CBDCs will be easy to acquire and imposed upon us. Alt-coins are equally backed by the very same corporations sought to be put to shame.
If you're telling me that the goal of Bitcoin was merely to rebel against the powers that be? It still doesn't hold water with me. You've only perpetuated the feudal system.

    Is this a zero-sum game?

  17. Congrats! Nice documentary!! I, personally think how Bitcoin works is a piece of art. I haven't seen the code, or even read the white paper.. I just read & watched various content online explaining Bitcoin concepts.. & many of the points (the ledger, the hashing problem, the half-ing, etc etc) are impressive – the creator/ creators were pretty f**ing smart. Anyway, from this documentary I understood that there should be an address belonging to Satoshi with 1 mill Bitocoins, untouched for some time? Will research this..
Update: there is NO single wallet with so much Bitcoin..
