Ginger: Harvesting Ginger Grown From Store Bought Ginger Root.

Can you grow your own ginger from store bought ginger roots? Of course you can. Ginger is one of those plants that’ll take care of itself. It grows best in warmer climates with fertile loose soil and partial shade. Let the soil dry out in between watering until it begins to sprout. Once the ginger starts to sprout, keep the soil moist, but not wet. Be patient. The growing process takes months.

  1. I found a sprouting one, too, but it was too late in summer for it to grow very much. Only one stalk has emerged. I brought it indoors and it still is unfurling new leaves, so I guess it's happy. It's my first attempt, so I was happy about your video to see what to expect in harvesting. Thx; very helpful!
It started snowing here at 8am. But it's all melted now. All I'm growing at this point is garlic, onions, kale, collards, spinach, beet greens, shallots, celery & lettuce.

  3. I've experienced with root crop plant it and forget it. It will eventually let you know that it is still alive.
