  1. thanks for introducing me to these amazing artists. especially mary cassatt and berthe morisot, they're so inspirational

  2. U just have no idea how u injected me with this huge dose of inspiration! I got such a groudbreaking idea for me I don't even wanna share this here, hah xD thanks 2 Al! And Kelseyyyy, u just introduced me to what I am trying to achieve in landscape painting and it's soo cool to see the roots of this way of painting. I don't like to start a day with social media but today I'm so glad I did, I can't thank u enough! 💜💙💚💛🧡♥️

  3. Thank you for this scholarly yet accessible presentation! As much as we learned about the artists presented, we think we also learned a lot about how, as an artist, to study painters we admire (which is different from how other scholars approach art history). In a way, when artists study historical art, we're always imagining ourselves at that time and place, though not necessarily in a romantic way, and trying to discover whether we would have had the same skill, creativity, and courage. This continues to be one of the most thought provoking and enjoyable podcasts we've encountered!

  4. Love love love! This is been my most favorite episode! I always appreciate being able to see things from Al’s perspective! She always makes me think about things in a way, that I never would, and makes me see things with new eyes! Why is Kelsey so good at breaking down an artist’s work and making even someone who knows nothing about art, be able to appreciate the work and the talent that went into it?

  5. This was super informative and inspiring!! I don’t tend to research art history/historical artists on my own, so I always learn so much from these kinds of videos! Also, I’ve never been so inspired to practice drawing men than after seeing the JC Leyendecker section of this video! Grabbed my pencil and paper so fast 😂 I’ve also been wanting to practice landscape painting so all of these were really great!!

  6. I absolutely adored this video. I love how you each approached the topic in a different way, getting a deep dive into one artist while also listening to you guys admire several other artists. I don't know a lot about the classic masters, the ones that influence us to this day. I would be interested in hearing more about them, especially when you select such a diverse group: females, LBTQA+, different ethnicities. I like all the representation and hearing what it is you guys admire about their work. I am very much a person that separates the art from the artist. If I like a particular piece, then I like it. But that doesn't mean I don't want to learn about the creator behind the art. Thanks for broadening my horizons, and I'd love more podcasts or videos like this one! 😀

  7. I love these kind of videos! getting to know artists that inspire you

imo Richard schmidt was mostly known for painting alla prima I think of portraits rather than landscapes when I think of him.
