Today I’m exploring an abandoned mansion in rural Tenessee with a scandalous backstory.
This 7,000-square-foot mansion is the former home of a local politician and a wealthy real estate broker.
Where this place was once a symbol of grandeur and wealth, it has since devolved into a sad example of conspicuous consumption.
This massive five-bedroom mansion is filled with plenty of examples of over-the-top luxury, like the spiral staircases, neoclassical architecture, and a blue iridescent ceiling in the master bedroom.
The extravagant home was originally built in the early 2000s by a well-liked local couple, but a nasty divorce in 2014 became the ultimate catalyst for the home’s demise.
A year after the settlement of the divorce, in which the wife was granted ownership of the estate, her ex-husband suddenly died. When she ran for political office soon after, over $500,000 worth of back taxes owed on the house came to light. Although the owner claimed this debt was accrued by her late ex-husband and that she had no prior knowledge of it, she was forced to file bankruptcy and the home fell into foreclosure. Since its abandonment in 2016, the home has been the subject of years-long legal issues. While this mansion is caught up in court, it’s wasting away and becoming a target of human vandalism.
Let’s go on a tour and immerse ourselves inside this splendid place.

  1. Laundry room and pantry for food storage. Up the stairs from the kitchen looks like a family room where they would spend time together watching television playing games reading. Home is beautiful. What a waste.

  2. Yes today is Monday November 28th 2022. I wish you the best in your studies and your future as a Doctor.

  3. Hello Maureno, great exploration! The mansion so luxurious. Thxs!👍

  4. I really don't like the style of this house, more megalomaniac than majestic, and decorated with a very questionable mix of styles! A decor that even seems quite outdated compared to the era in which it was made, and which seems rather from the 80s, 90s. It's bling-bling and kitsch!

  5. I wonder why this property was not resold to pay the debts, it was probably seized by the bailiff!?

  6. Sayang banget rumah semewah itu dibiarkan terbengkalai begitu saja pada kemana ahli waris nya

  7. It's not okay to steal but if they really do it why vandalize like this??? Nice video! Greetings from Italy 👏🍀💙

  8. Yes Maureno, that is how it is in the states too much wealth and nobody cares. It is all about the money. There is no end. I enjoy you as a person, so any video you and Ramon put out I will watch to the very end. Much love from Michigan

  9. Maureno So happy to see you back after all the stuff you had to go thru. The rich in the US alot of them can afford to waste $$$$.

  10. Thanks for the insight, but I'm still confused why Bitcoin and crypto prices keep dropping? This drop follows a number of other significant drops in recent weeks. I still hold enormous value of cryptos and it scares me. Whats your take on this?

  11. I just seen a post that her brother in law paid the back taxes and that she is able to sell, question is how much would it cost to bring it up to living condition😳😒😑😐🤔

  12. It's interesting to see the difference in how you do your video of this place compared to the others that have been done

  13. what a beautiful property i would love this mansion, how awful all the trashing and looting, i love your videos keep them coming

  14. What an incredible place. Most of the design choices are too gaudy for my taste, but I would love to have a kitchen that size! If only they had chosen to live within their means, they could have paid their taxes and remained in a less extravagant estate. It's always sad to see abandoned buildings left to rot, especially with so many useful items still inside, left to rot while so many people are in desperate need of clothing and shelter.
I hope you were able to return to school and that your studies are going well!

  16. Thanks for all tour hard work on this. I’m my opinion I think the older mansions/ castles have more charm. I would not live in this or any other giant house cause it’s just too big. I’d love a little cottage house and live like a hobbit.

  17. Edit: I could never be an Urban explorer, I'd have to take five U-Hauls with me everywhere I went. Things like that beautiful antique table in the garage or those great cowboy pictures, that stuff's just going to be destroyed and forgotten. Even if the property got new owners, chances are, it would all be thrown away.
I would have had to take in the fox picture on the floor and probably pilfered the books. I really like the fox picture though….

  18. Hola Explomo!!

  19. I'm American and I'm ashamed of how Americans act, when it comes to how they treat abandoned properties…they're NEED to destroy makes me embarrassed.

  20. Even the bible has some things to say about money…..1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows….Money is NOT BAD…it's the LOVE OF MONEY that is the root of all evil.

  21. Hi.i m from karachi Pakistan.n i realy like explomo videos.but plz active the translation option in urdu.

  22. Iridescent ceilings are beautiful. Just imagine sunlight and lights hitting the areas would glow with color.

  23. Beautiful place 😍 I just don't understand why it wasn't put on the market ? Maybe they tried to sell it but it never got sold ? 🤷
