Daniel is a solo sailor who’s been living on a 38-foot 1984 Beneteau Idylle sailboat for the past 4 years. His boat and lifestyle are set up to maximize the amount of time he can spend exploring off-grid: he has 1000 watts of solar panels for electricity, a watermaker to create freshwater, a wood-fired grill for cooking outside, he grows and sprouts some of his fresh food, and he catches the majority of his protein by free-dive spearfishing.
Although he does solo sail his boat, he says the liveaboard lifestyle is much more fun when traveling with a buddy boat, and he also takes on crew half the time. He bought the boat for $23,000 USD, and has refitted it several times to get it where it is today. And by keeping his expenses low, he’s able to earn a living from documenting his adventures on YouTube and Patreon with his Adventureman Dan social media project:

Living on a sailboat isn’t always easy. Daniel says some of the challenges include constantly monitoring the weather, dealing with sleepless and stormy nights, battling loneliness, and always repairing things that are breaking on the boat.
Daniel is currently sailing in the Bahamas, but eventually plans to cross over into the Pacific and maybe head North towards Alaska, where he was first inspired to buy a sailboat, and pursue an ocean harvesting life on the water.

What “other things” would I hide under my trash?
😮😂
Amazing 🥰🥰🥰.
awesome video! sooooo would love to do this… but also can't imagine doing it! lol have you considered Starlink? Crazy to think about having Interwebs out in the middle of the ocean
people dump waste in the sea?!! never gonna swim in the sea ever again.
Paper
Wow, amazing set up he has on that boat!
Beautiful.
Again, Mat & Danielle, you found someone who is excited by his tiny life. Great find. Love his love for the lifestyle.
This was a great video that really helped me a lot. I'm going to retire soon and I have lived around the water much of my life, the way things are changing on land is becoming far too political, I have to agree this is a better lifestyle.
This was my absolute favorite tiny/alternate living video I've ever seen. This guy is so interesting and inspiring. Thanks guys😁
How does he wash his clothes?
Or did I miss it in the video?
doesn't he gotta worry about modern day pirates?
also if you think about it can you believe pirate ships back then are sorta considered sail boats I mean they do have sails
Love the beautiful wood and colour scheme, very classical and practical 😍
Rofl! for $23,000 you get the Zodiac and its outboard!!!
Have you had any encounters with pirates?

you need to plant the plants in more soil. get bigger pots/crates.
This boat can go anywhere. If you can pay the port fees. Govt needs them dollars
Great video, best one I have seen on how to "really" live on a sailboat. Living life to the full in many ways.
I am about to make my first boat purchase and intend to create a similar set up, perhaps take it a little further in regards to off grid living. Thanks for the great video, really appreciate it.
I want a drone I can live in and just hover over the ocean without touching it and as for energy I want an electro-magnetic free energy motor.
So happy for you. We can all see that you love your life with the modest life you live. Which is no small feet. I’ve thought for the past several years whether i could do this. I will say it’s not for everyone. The right set of circumstances need to be in place. I’ll never say never. All the best brother. 🙏🏼
