Holidays in the Garden Day 5! :: Planting Daffodils with Power Planter PLUS Auger Safety!

“Bulbs need so little and give back so much. They start off homely, even ugly, and return transformed.” -Laura Springer Ogden

Welcome to DAY 5 of my Holidays in the Garden Series! Today I am getting my daffodil bulb mix from colorblends.com in the ground, and we are talking about AUGER SAFETY! Since getting my auger from Power Planter, I’ve used it non-stop, but I think its really important to discuss how to use it properly so you don’t hurt yourself! 💗 Enjoy!

  1. Thank you very much for passing on the information you learn. I love how you're going out of your way to learn new things, not only for yourself but to teach us as well. Your a wonderful teacher, again thank you and happy holidays. God Bless ❤️🥰

  2. Thanks for the tip on the lombularia. I’m also in Northern California (Sonoma) so I appreciate all your local climate tips. Question: I’m preordering Supertunia from Proven Winners because they are never in the stores early enough here. Do you think we can plant end of February? March is ideal but I’m traveling. Thanks for your advice.

  3. I’ve learned a lot about bulbs from you.. I never really gardened in the past and when we moved here last year I planted freesia in the spring and I was so disappointed nothing happend..guess what’s sprouting up right now? Yep those freesia bulbs lol!

  4. It is such a pity, Janey that there is no where for you to compost all your green waste as it would add so much humus from all of those annual plant roots, that could be added to your soil. This is just what you need need to improve your soil structure/texture and really bulk it up and decrease compaction. It would also be great for increasing worms in your soil. Can you buy compost back from the council at a cheap rate? 🌱🌻

  5. It was a great tutorial today on proper auger useage. I am very familiar with a drill but not an Auger and how to use one so I learned a lot today. I have a question…when you're pulling your auger out of the ground do you hit the reverse button on the drill or just leave it in the forward motion? Thank you.

  6. A couple years ago I bought a pretty pink drill (Yes because I'm a girl, and I didn't want my husband using it…ha). Well my husband laughed at it, I said whatever! This year he bought me an auger to help plant my bulbs. So I charged up my pretty pink drill headed out, stuck it in the ground and my pretty pink drill laughed at me! So now I'm now wondering if it was the settings I had it on. Thank you for teaching the different settings on the drills!

  7. Thanks for the auger presentation. Great information and very helpful. Can't wait to see the daffodils! 🦋M

  8. Great demonstration! I feel confident now to use an auger with my cordless drill. Can't wait to see how beautiful all your daffodils will be! Happy gardening! 🌼🌻🌸

  9. Such great information. I will need a drill. Can you recommend what drill you would buy if you were to replace your drill. Or should I purchase the one that you currently have.

  10. This was such an informative video. I’ve been on the fence about buying an auger, but after watching your video, I’m going for it.

  11. thank you so much for the auger info because I got one from my family last xmass and never felt safe or even how to put it together MY son and hubby use them all the time and never understood why I was having such a hard time !!! because they never took me thru step by step !!! so a big thanks

  12. Janey, thank you so much for sharing how to use the Power Planter auger. I have a Dewalt drill and now because of this video , I feel more comfortable using my PP auger.

  13. I always thought ornamental sweet potato vine didnt grow anything…proves who told me was wrong

  14. Hi Janey, your ideas just keep getting better and better. The knowledge you are sharing with us is fabulous. I love your swoop but ohhhh, how exciting when it is clean and starting fresh. The way you just rolled it all up was fun to watch. So happy you started this journey. Xxx

  15. Thank you Janey, I had no idea you had to change settings on the drill! Hands saving advice 🙏 Also that annuals carpet rolling was too much fun 😆 never seen it done like that, what a cool trick!
