Dumbest reasoning I have ever heard. I would much rather be the guy with the stuff that people want to rob than the guy who needs to rob people.
I’d argue that having at least a stash of 90% silver would be a pretty good SHTF prep – ASSUMING you have your other preps in place. It’s recognisable and other people will know it’s worth trading for. And just because you have a small handful of 1940s dimes and quarters doesn’t mean you are worth robbing.
After all, it might be the only silver you have….
After this year, no one is going to admit they have any gold. All you'll see is scrap silver and basic survival items.
Gold and Silver has been around since God created the earth. I would say it’s good to have some and essentials as well. Paper money pretty much could end up just that paper.
I see precious metals as a store of wealth and a medium to convert into whatever currency is valuable at the time. If I were in an SHTF scenario, I'd look to barter with the business owners that were left for larger transactions with a larger group of my people for security. Obviously I haven't lived through anything like this though so it's speculation.
TrDe and barter items: bic lighters (refillable with a few items), coffee, cinnamon, sugar, salt, wheat berries, rice, alcohol, cigarettes, Tylenol and ibuprofen.
The best bartering items are silver coins, pre 1964. and 1/10 ounce gold. That is the best bartering stuff. As for ammo? You will need that in the gun you are carrying since people who barter are trying to find out what you have worth stealing. They will kill you or cigarettes, alcohol and ammo.

Anyone stacking metals is most likely prepped with food, water and guns also. If shit doesn't hit the fan, gold and silver is a very safe investment and storage of wealth, so to push people away from it is silly. Buy silver and gold people.

In Venezuela, which is actually experiencing the SHTF we so much talk about, if you have silver or gold you’re king. Their currency is toilet paper and their entire official currency system is zeros and ones in a government issued debit card that their dictator can turn on and off at will, like our dictator Biden wants to do to us.

When the goon squad pushed paper silver to whatever it was, 10 or 12 bucks last year, the physical prices barely changed at all b/c premiums increased to take up the slack. Things there are pretty complicated but what happens to it once the control is gone?? BRICS nations helping w/that right now.
That said, gold/silver in a SHTF scenario won't be worthwhile…people are gonna be trading things like food for bottles of water and such. The obvious food aside, hmm thinking out loud here:
Barter items early on would be alcohol and cigarettes….weed probably would be the new gold for a while just for the mind-altering part as is alcohol. Certain prescription drugs too.
Also things like 5-gallon (filled) gas cans and maybe even firewood for fuel. to cook with if too bulky to haul off. Use for cooking over. Dog and cat food might have a niche too. Warm gloves for winter. Can openers. Knife sharpeners. Extra bung wrenchs for shutting off nat gas feeds.
Good question….others can add a lot more and better ideas than I've got, I'm sure!

May I add a caveat Gold will rise to 5,000 and silver over 100 if u sell early u lose out if u hold after 5k and 100 u will lose your shirt and pants and socks, U will find this hard to believe but u heard it here first, gold will become penny gold, yes penny gold and silver practically worthless and the stock market will fall below 500, i know it is 30,000+ but it will fall below 500 all this will most likely be this decade, how sure am I just shy of 100%.
Oh what do I mean by penny gold, u know when u see a penny on the sidewalk how many of u pick it up? Well gold will become about as valuable as that penny! So buy now and sell when it hit these highs if u hold dont expect it to be worth anything, one day a man will trade all his stash of gold just for something to eat !
So you sound hypocritical . Why would they shoot you if gold drops in value like the dollar unless gold is a very tangible item. Gold is God's currency globally. Currency's come and go but gold and silver has stood the test of time. You sound like an agent for the government trying to discourage the run on gold and silver to avoid a panic. Everybody doesn't know that the dollar is going away. I have known this for years. Now watch gold and silver rise to $5,000 an oz.

1) "Gold and Silver are not based on Gold and Silver. It's just a Market. It can crash just like the market."
A stock can crash if the owner of the stock gives up on the project or files for bankruptcy. There is no centralized unit who controls all of the gold and silver and who can "pull the plug" on it like the many crypto projects that are exit-scamming.
2) "Brokers take fees."
No one I know buys gold and silver from a "broker". They buy them for dealers who sell products in an open marketplace. If those items are priced too high, especially generics, then buyers will go to a different seller/dealer who is offering a better price. The margins made are the cost of doing business. If you are paying a broker to buy your gold and silver for you, you may want to consider not doing that. Brokers "taking fees" is a terrible argument for avoiding buying gold and silver because people simply do not use brokers to buy gold and silver.
3) "People will come after you if you publicize the fact that you are holding precious metals."
Easy. Don't advertise the fact that you hold precious metals. You literally say you need to have "tangible" items that you can trade. Precious metals are literally tangible items. What makes you think a box of ammo and a gun is any better of a bartering tool than precious metals? Would you trade a loaf of bread for a box of ammo and a gun or would you be afraid that you'd get shot without getting any bread for your family? Wouldn't you rather trade a loaf of bread to someone with gold or silver rather than a person with a fully loaded rifle? Just curious. To each their own.

A friend of mine said you should stock up on coffee and cigarettes, stuff that people are addicted to, but my wife doesn't like the idea

My husband and I have stocked up on cheap whiskey, Vodka and cigarettes non of which we use but certain they will come in handy!. The cards or actually the good book tells us coming back from this mess we are headed for….well it’s just not going to happen.

So only time will tell which of our tool boxes will be most beneficial for the days before the end. If you can’t take it with you, have something you have no problem leaving behind! Grandpa always said that!

You don't know what your talking about…. stocks are minupulated so is gold and silver but stocks will be worth nothing and gold and silver have been around for thousands of years… people that have it have ar15s and won't be flashing gold coins they have food already. You're not making any since. People bought land with gold in Germany while other were burning it. We already know how to barter I'd get a piece if I was you because youll be the lamb not the wolf.

Sorry, I like your channel but your whole premise just doesn't sit well with me. I appreciate the vids about prepping and learned a lot about that wholesale truck deal, but the reasons you give here don't fly. Prepping is supposed to be a hedge against whatever disasters might happen. Investing in real silver and gold, not trading in it on the stock market, should be encouraged for that reason. Of course dealers mark up the product, that's how they make their money otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. If you're lucky, you may have several dealers in the same area, so they compete against each other with the premiums they charge. The local dealer I go to actually puts videos on here anytime he changes his premiums. Regarding getting robbed, I'm pretty sure folks that are in these type "forums" are well versed in grey man and security for the most part. If you're walking around with or using that type of currency, you're def not doing alone, you're not advertising, and you can protect yourself. Preparing your house, food, water, power, gas, is extremely important, that goes without saying. You can prep all that that you want, but you can't sell back the flour or beans to Sams when you need to make a mortgage payment if something happens in the future, before SHTF obviously… There's nothing wrong with diversifying your preps for whatever level of SHTF could possibly come.

This is an argument for why not to use silver as direct barter.
It's a store of value. In shtf, it is compact and can be traded for something else. Use a silver dealer of you want. Someone with a safe/secure environment that you trust. They will take it, and it will be worth a lot at that time.
Ok, i waited till the end hoping you were going to say the 1 logical thing i hear everyone say. Which is get all the other item YOU need first (not others need) then get metals.

Though gold and silver will always have value, it's incredibly unlikely anyone would be dumb enough to stumble into quick barter swap and just start throwing around gold coins.
Get your food/water/ammo and other items FIRST..then put your worthless paper dollars into something that will always hold value..simple really

Lumber, hardware, fuel, paint, fencing, roofing, bolts, hinges, screws and nails are all good barter items. Projects will always still need to be done.
Gold and Silver ARE NOT primarily an "investment", they are wealth insurance. They are sound money. Invest elsewhere, but stack silver and gold to protect yourself.
Allow me respond. 1) Manipulation (COMEX, LBMA, etc.) WILL END with a fiat dollar collapse after its global reserve currency status is lost. 2) Premiums are based on supply and demand and dramatically indicate the ACTUAL VALUE of the precious metal based on those who KNOW that it's real money. Frankly, a 3% premium on gold, and a 15% premium on silver (what I just purchase at today) will be considered NOTHING when the true value of precious metals are realized. 3) IMO, this whole "they'll take your gold and silver away from you" argument is rather lame, Goshen. You need a well-organized, armed community to enforce ANY KIND OF PREP PROTECTION! Food, water, ammo, supplies, PMs, whatever. Community is a critical prep regardless.
Frankly amazed at your three reasons against stacking silver and gold for SHTF. I have addressed MANY other more cogent arguments against stacking silver and gold for SHTF. The bottom line is that one must prep OTHER ITEMS before prepping with precious metals. It's not top of the list! Other items will be bartered–goods for goods, services for services–before silver (and to a lesser extent, gold) is used. However, it will eventually become untenable to barter a chicken for a hammer. We'll need a trusted currency, and we'll turn to precious metals. Yes, the education is currently lacking, but that will quickly change IMO once people learn how to identify and value the currency.
One last thing: Silver barter is already being done in many communities. Some in my own "Live Free or Die" state of New Hampshire.
