  1. ive not tried pink fur apples before but was harvesting my desiree potatoes and charlottes the other day and washing them ready for storage when an old guy came in and said dont wash your potatoes and they will store better ah well we learn something every day and get that vine planted mate

  2. Tony i did 7 pots as i have a small plot, slugs and scabs killed most of the harvest so i dont think i will be doing them again, very dissapointed with all the effort for no harvest

  3. Well done on the potato reveal. They are lovely. One of the many things I have learned from Tony was “water better water less…” he clearly explains why you should water right through the tub, rather than what we usually do which is sprinkle with the hose… between the chopped straw topping and proper watering my crops have easily doubled but more than that the quality is good. Great video once again..

  4. Fantastic result Tony. I'm going to do this next year.
I've been growing spuds in buckets for a few years, but I'll definitely try the O'Neill method next.

  5. Strange looking spuds! lol Nice crop though, might have to give that method a good as well next season, I've watched some of Tony's comparison videos between the two methods, the tubs give a better yield. Certainly worth adding that straw, anything to help lessen the watering effort gets a 👍

  6. I did the same myself this year!Following Tony`s methods! The tow things i did different was one:- i used a small fencing wire to create a cylinder shape fence around the top of each container around n2 ft high which worked wonders in this North Wales windy weather! And two:- i installed a better watering system, where i could water all 70 containers in 15 mins, giving each container the same amount of water which lasted a week easyily!Ive had great quality and good yields! The only difference is my containers are a lot bigger, only cause i got 100 of them for 99p!lol.Keep up the great work and vids mate!

  7. So now that you mixed the soil with the mulch, what are you going to do with it? Can you use it to plant in it right away, or will the decomposing straw draw all the nitrogen out of the soil? Will you have to compost it first?

  8. Nice result Tony. Tried them for the first time this year & the yield from the first 2 I've lifted is amazing & some are bigger than I expected & a few funky shapes ones as well.

  9. Rather than use straw, I used grass clippings which I thoroughly dried out. Same thing, really, I suppose. Anyway, works a treat, and can be copmposted after harvesting.

  10. Tony I Love Ya … but it was hard to see you drop the potatoes like rocks … treat um like Produce Bro > handle them with care … like works of Art *******

  11. Try fence/line pins surrounding the group of containers and then wrap around plastic barrier fence netting, Be sure to add the line pins at about 2-3ft intervals and it will contain them. I have Sarpo Mira haulms around 4ft high……..use this method every year and it works fine 👍

  12. They are an elongated spud pink fur they may make good chips, looking nice Tony! Containers are the way forward I think , I never tried burying them this year may try that next time. I think I've missed the boat for xmas spuds, welldone on another success!

  13. Hi, that's the only way we grow, mulch all the veg with either sugar cane or straw. Retains the water in the beds and pots during our very hot summer days, in Aussie. After the season it is left in place to enrich the beds with the organic matter. Take care, be safe.

  14. Awesome harvest! We love potato harvest season, both harvesting our own and watching other gardeners celebrate their bounty. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Instead of pots could one use those plastic storage containers? You know the ones that you put all your holiday junk in

  16. Definitely going for this method for 2021!! apache and pir fir apples for sure but not sure on maincrop… King Edwards or Sarpo Mira? or is there another readily available heavy cropper with good flavour?

  17. trying this method next year.! what brand of straw did you get off ebay? and how many containers would a bag cover? advice appreciated!
