Front Yard Garden

A Tour of Julie Frink’s Garden

A brief walkthrough of Julie Frink’s garden. Julie Frink is an avocado specialist and curator of the avocado collection at the University of California field station. She has discovered and preserved dozens of rare avocado varieties, and helped to compile a database of over 500 varieties, many of which would have been lost without her efforts. She has grown fruit trees in Southern California for decades, and along the way, she has gained valuable knowledge and insight on growing avocados and many other types of fruits. Beyond that, she has given countless speeches and talks about avocados to various organizations around the country, and has helped to popularize avocados around the USA.

  1. Thank you for two great videos with Julie Frink. They are definitely for the "Avocado Archives." You have a lovely rapport with Julie and it's very cool to see the two of you going on a garden adventure. I have a question – what growing zone is Julie's house? I have always wanted to try growing a cherimoya tree, but I am in zone 10a and get temps above 100 degrees in the summer.
