I gotta get some sleep but got as far as the question, “what if people stopped keeping/treating bees or however that was worded.”
My answer is: The bees would all but die off as natural genetic selection would be allowed to play out. Since it hasnt been allowed to play out the genetics are bad in general and getting worse. So a major die out would happen. But to follow that years later we would see a great come back. In my opinion my answer is only valid for a limited amount of time. As keepers keep proping up poor genetics with basically “medicine” the issue is getting worse. So left go to many more years and there might not be a come back for Northern bees. All that said we have other issue too. Africanized bees breeding Italian hives in southern U.S. bee keepers yards; they then ship the offspring North. Also chemical treated farming has only increased through the years and the bees cant stomach that either. So there are issues we cant address but the few we can; “stop shipping bees north from the south and stop treating bees other then keeping smaller hives or brood breaks”. Now convince everyone to get on board with me and we can truly test my theory lol
