Crazy Moss Ball Terrarium but It's NOT What You Think

I’ve been making terrariums for many years now. There are countless things I enjoy about them, like capturing nature, but the thing I really wanted to focus on in this video, is how they’re able to encapsulate memories.

As most of you know, I recently moved. The last thing I had to do was clean the pond and collect the fish. As I did that, I really enjoyed the sights of the pond and my yard. I also got sentimental about the time spent there and I got to thinking – I should make a terrarium to capture those memories. However, one thing led to another and I ended up making three of them… I also found some INCREDIBLE elements that made for some truly unique and memorable pieces.

The rest of the video speaks for itself. Let me know what you think in the comments and enjoy!

  1. What do you think about the terrariums and the finds from over the fence? I couldn't believe all of this, but I was very excited about it. Seriously, how cool is the moss ball and the Slice bottle?! Let me know wheat you think, enjoy the video, and have a great weekend!

  2. I LOVE the idea of a wedding terrarium! did you scape it before and then water and seal it on the day of? I may have to steal that idea!

  3. @serpadesign I'm with ya, moss is definitely my favorite green thing that grows, for sure. My wife gives me a hard time, but she is loving the journey with me on learning to build better, longer lasting terrariums. Thanks for all you've taught me!

  4. That baseball reminded me “Nature Bats Last “. I love it and I want one so I threw 5 baseballs out into the yard. Now I just have to wait…

  5. They’re all so different but all so cool! I love looking at the world through your eyes. It’s such a wonderful perspective. I hope all the animals are doing ok after the move. I know you had a couple of big tanks break, but if anyone can save those inhabitants it’s you. 12:50pm

  6. You give me such good ideas. I am looking to make a toad habitat for southern eastern forest this spring.

  7. great video! seeing those tanks in the background makes me really want to see a new animal room tour video with updates on the scapes and pets, if you have time that is!

  8. You can see this on God's scale in Oregon. When God cultivates His garden, he uses the entire planet to do so. The Alsea river in Oregon is one of my more favorite drives. Take it all the way to the ocean, pull off and walk it's banks…you could spend a lifetime wandering God's rivers and forests and see all this same sort of work on the scale of the ultimate creator. God bless. Looks great btw

  9. Love the moss-covered ball. There's a satisfaction in seeing some cast off human-made thing repurposed by Nature.
I spent a couple of winters in my RV on the Texas Gulf Coast beach. After storms, I would find ordinary items flung up on the shore, that had become home to plants and little clams on their journey through the Gulf. Coconuts, shoes, wooden boat parts, all transformed into beautiful objets d'art by the sea. I even found a round, solid wood knob the size of a bowling ball, which I guessed to have broken off a newel post on a staircase during a hurricane. Perhaps it had rolled all the way from the Caribbean…
Anyway, I enjoyed watching you build all 3 of the terrariums (terraria?). I hope the memories they stir in you make you and your family smile for many years to come.
