Potato Harvest | Life's A Garden – Dig It!

Digging up potatoes never gets old, we get our hands dirty in the garden and see how well our spuds did. Thankful for a great yield we celebrate with a classic potato dish, Potatoes Au Gratin.

  1. Just like 'deep fried mars bars', not everything 'southern style' (aka killed with hot oil) is necessarily "Good". Now, you know ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Loved your thumbnail ๐Ÿ˜€ Congrats to another successfull potato harvest.
And yes, your gratin dauphinois might have missed some spice and definetely some salt, usually you lightly season the layers. Also, as you did not add cheese it was also missing that seasoning. Personally i LOVE to use a french Brie (or similar cheese) and baking that rind on the top just adds another flavour to it. Very rich thought ๐Ÿ˜€
Still loved your recipes and i really enjoy watching you try new things.

  3. Hi. Saw other videos that explain you have new plans. Still will miss that garden it was beautiful and seemed so fundamental to your whole project. Best of luck with relocation and new schemes. Martin London England

  4. I cook them the same way. I layer potatoes, lots of onions, and seasoned pork or chicken, and onions and potatoes again, and cover with cream. the onion is no better.

  5. You two are so inspiring ๐Ÿ™‚
I can genuinely say Arielle and Eric are huge motivators for why I had my first summer garden this year โคthank u

  6. Yeh sir, a 225lb tatter to be exact lol. Great vid u2 ! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒโœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿฅ”

  7. What a good potato haul! As someone who has never been much of a gardener, I enjoy watching and learning about how natural our food can grow! I am kind of sorry that you will not be gardening next year, yet, interested in your building projects on the new property to come! We all need change once in awhile.

  8. Well that was an amazing amount of colourful potatoes. You will enjoy throughout the winter. The potato recipe looked different from usual scalloped potatoes that i make. I always look forward to your videos ,so until the next one, take care and be safe.(Judy NB)๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐ŸŒฒ

  9. Beautiful harvest! The gratin looks extremely delicious, however it in not gratin, without cheese. Au gratin literally means with cheese in french. What you made is actually scalloped potatoes. They technically don't have cheese. We have just mixed them all together in our lexicon. Who really cares, as long as they are delicious and you are well fed!

  10. raw potato will absorb a lot of the flavors during the cooking process. This is why the only solution for a sauce or soup that is too salty is to stick a couple of raw peeled potatoes in it and then fish them out after an hour or so. Or you could have them in there longer depending on what you are cooking and whether you plan on eating etc, over night is fine.

  11. I find when I cook potatoes they always need a lot of salt, since they're loaded with starch. The only exception if they're topped with cheese, which is salty.

  12. Put cayenne and nutmeg in your potato au gratin next time. But it looked fab! Well done on your potato harvest!

  13. I always add a healthy amount of garlic and salt to my au gratin. Can always add some salt to the water you soak them in too.

  14. As I sit watching this video, I'm saying to myself… "You missed one! You missed another one, go back!" then laughing at myself for yelling at the screen. Loved your potato harvest.

  15. You should leave them in oven for little longer bro they not fully cooked itโ€™s clearly indicated when you sliced.

  16. That brussels sprout recipe looks amazing , I love balsamic vinegar . Looking forward have you crack in one of those jars open on next fishing trip

  17. It would have been good to layer thinly sliced onions between the sliced potatoes at least that is how I was taught to make it.
So great you got such a great potato harvest! Still in a bit of a shock that you are not gardening next year but totally understand. Will you share how you purchase your food when you are not growing it? So appreciate your videos!

  18. Omg – HILARIOUS Thumbnail ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ’™ love you two. Sending WARM hugs from SW ON ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ!
