How do you Know when your Seminole Pumpkin is Ripe?

In Florida, its best to plant vegetable varieties adapted to your climate. Here I have an ‘heirloom’ Seminole pumpkin growing in my vegetable garden. I just plant it in the beginning of summer with my black eyed peas and let it. I only do hand smushing of caterpillars and throw a little organic fertilizer at the base once a month. Now in November, its fully ripe. You can tell it is ripe because it turns from green to orange. The riper it gets the sweeter it tastes. You can save it for a long time once harvested, up to a year before it rots. Save the seeds to replant and share with friends.
