Jardim Marielle-Franco (2019)
“Este jardim suspenso, um verdadeiro convite para viajar no telhado de um hotel ao longo dos trilhos de trem, oferece um precioso cenário verde no distrito mineral da Gare de l’Est e Gare du Nord. Três terraços oferecem grandes gramados e um playground para descanso e relaxamento. Os caminhos cruzados deste jardim são uma reminiscência dos trilhos de trem nas proximidades. Sua paleta de plantas, enriquecida com flores e plantas perenes, retoma as cores roxa e branca dos telhados e fachadas do bairro. Este ambiente paisagístico inclui uma componente de jardinagem urbana e comestível com a presença de hortaliças e muitas árvores de fruto.
O nome deste jardim homenageia Marielle Francisco da Silva, conhecida como Marielle Franco, nascida em 1979 no Rio de Janeiro, eleita vereadora da cidade em 2016. Ativista comprometida contra a discriminação racial, pelos direitos das mulheres e das pessoas LGBTQ, ela se define com orgulho como uma “mulher, negra, da favela”. Ela foi assassinada com seu motorista, Anderson Pedro Gomes, em 2018, enquanto lutava contra os abusos da intervenção militar nas favelas.”

“This hanging garden, a veritable invitation to travel on the roof of a hotel along the railway tracks, offers a precious green setting in the mineral district of the Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord. Three terraces offer large lawns and a playground for rest and relaxation. The cross paths of this garden are reminiscent of the nearby railway tracks. Its plant palette, enriched with flowers and perennials, takes up the purple and white colors of the roofs and facades of the district. This landscaped atmosphere includes an urban and edible gardening component with the presence of vegetable crops and many fruit trees.”
“The name of this garden pays tribute to Marielle Francisco da Silva, known as Marielle Franco, born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, elected municipal councilor of the city in 2016. Activist committed against racial discrimination, for the rights of women and LGBTQ people , she proudly defines herself as a “woman, black, from the favela”. She was murdered with her driver, Anderson Pedro Gomes, in 2018 while fighting the abuses of military intervention in the favelas.”
