  1. @Biograpics Suggestion for future video, Field Marshall William Slim, in charge of the "forgotten army", almost certainly stopped the Japanese from taking India. Could also fit in Warograpics. He turned a badly trained, demoralised army that was constantly retreating into a superb fighting force that could take on and beat the Japanese

  2. The great incompetent. Appeasing him made the European theater of the war last a full six months longer with countless more lost allied lives, than it would have if Ike would have simply set Georgie Patton loose on the Germans.

  3. As a Canadian soldier I had the opportunity to speak with several British veterans who had emigrated to Canada who served under Montgomery in the desert and they didn't speak well of him. He did not impress them at all. As far as his battle history, he fine when he had the enemy outnumbered but Market Garrden show he wasn't worth a dam at taking chances.

  4. Montgomery is and was way overrated for a world war two general. Harold Alexander was far better tactician. General William Slim who commanded the British 14th Army in Burma also called the forgotten army achieved alot more with less was far superior general than the egotist that as Montgomery.

  5. hey seymon, would love if make a video on konstantin rokkosvosky, the mastermind behind operation bagration, he was nearly purged in stalins purge

  6. I think General Sir Harry Chauvel the leader of the last successful cavalry charge in history in Beer Sheba

  7. 17:55 onwards is complete fiction. Montgomery never 'gloated' or bragged he saved the day. It is clear the author of this video has done no research at all into the reasons why this 'distorted version of Monty's Press conference was taken as genuine when in fact he is railing against a German Propaganda Broadcast that put out a doctored version of Monty's words. This is easily checked by consulting US Newspaper reports in Jan 1945. The initial reports on Monty's Press Conference (Jan 7th) were 100% positive with all papers repeating Monty's praise for US troops. On Jan 8th the Newspapers reported rifts over claims he said negative things in a radio broadcast. On Jan11 the newspapers all reported that the negative comments were fake Nazi broadcasts and that they had got it wrong. Over the intervening decades EVERYONE repeats the claims made on Jan 8th but no one EVER mentions the retraction and apologies printed on Jan 11th. The claims made here are Nazi lies and even the most basic of checks would have revealed as much. I guess anything goes in the race to get clicks.

  8. Hi Sir I am from Afghanistan. please make A video on Why Afghanistan Cannot be Conquered. And why It is called Graveyard of Empires. Please also tell about US Afghan 20 Years war history. I shall be Very Thankful to you.
Note : I am student of Geology bul also take keen interest in history and politics

  9. Montgomery had some good military skills, but he had no common sense, and he had no filter and made a of statements when he should have stayed quiet. He was NOT a team player. He did a great job in Egypt and in planning Operation Overload. My biggest issue is with Montgomery and his constant pushing of a narrow front assault into Germany. By this point in the war, the US had supplied the largest share of the troops and supplied most of the equipment. There was no way ever under any circumstances that Montgomery's plan would be approved. It was a total utter nonstarter. It was fine for him to suggest it, but once it was rejected, Montgomery should have dropped it. The sad fact is that soldiers and civilians died because of Montgomery's ego. Brooke should have given him a direct order to drop it, but Brooke despised the American Generals and never gave that order. Brooke was jealous since he wanted Eisenhower's job. Churchill promised Brooke the job, but he had to withdraw the offer. This showed the British Army's biggest World War II weakness. They lived in fear of the mistakes on World War I. I have always thought the British did not like the Americans since the British did not like needing Americans to save them twice in 25 years.

  10. Montgomery, the most successful Western Allied ground commander of WW2 by some way. He took more ground through more countries while facing more quality German opposition than any other Western Allied ground commander in WW2. Nobody did more to help win the ground war in the west than Bernard Montgomery.
The Americans had to turn to him in their hour of need in the Ardennes to help get them out of their mess there.

  11. Montgomery didn't argue to Eisenhower that he should remain in charge of all allied ground troops after Normandy. He met with Eisenhower in mid August and tried to dissuade Eisenhower descending from Supreme Commander into also becoming C-in-C of all ground forces.
Montgomery said that if American public pressure insisted that an American be in charge of all ground forces that he should give the C-in-C job to Bradley and that he, Montgomery, would serve UNDER Bradley if it meant the concentrated northern thrust with 4 armies be chosen as the preferred strategy instead of the broad front strategy.

  12. Umm Patton was without compassion , referring to dead American troops as bad soldiers at a widows and families assemble. Eisenhower has his eye on the presidency. Montgomery knew that the Russians would double cross the west . The plan of market garden was to cover as much of Holland and Germany as they could . All of the German troops in this area were professional and very well dug in , making progress very hard . The last coherent fighting German units were in this area . Wanting to fight on past the surrender in Berlin ……….

  13. Yet another diatribe by a YouTube “expert” with a comic like presentation equivalent to the Hotspur…..with only one aim really, namely generate income from YouTube.
To describe Montgomery in 20 mins is ludicrous . Was he the only General to return from Dunkirk with his division more or less intact ? I’ve just read he was. Why was he not sent to North Africa earlier ? Perhaps because his expertise was needed to rebuild the British army at home ?
WW2 is a massive story, and the part played by Montgomery is still clouded by this type of video . I haven’t heard mention of the intelligence Enigma gave the allies, but equally I haven’t anything about the US military attaché in Egypt , Major Bonner Fellers, who sent detailed messages to Washington of 8th Army dispositions, capabilities and plans, which were decoded and being read by Rommel within hours. Rommel was only the Desert Fox because he had this intelligence.
I’m out of this stupid video and I’m not even halfway through.

  14. Whether you like Monty or not, and I think he was the best allied commander in the second world war, he totally retrained the Eight Army into the war winning force that it became and lead 21st Army Group for the rest of the war.

  15. Monkey was roughly as incompetent as many other British senior military "leadership" have been over many years. Roosevelt shoveled fuel to Monkey instead of Patton to make sure Franike's good pal Joe Stalin would get to take Berlin.

  16. Patton: According to some vets who served under him, he was despised by quite a few of his troops. None of them cited the slap in stories I heard as a child, but were more focused on things like the fact that he would ride into battle sitting in the top of an open tank firing his paired six shooters like he was an old west cowboy and apparently would openly negatively compare some divisions to "his old Roman troops" – the ones he felt he had commanded in a past life.

  17. VPN for private persons is very close to a scam and the threat scenarios you describe are HIGHLY unlikely. 99% of your traffic is already safe and encrypted regardless of the WiFi you connect to. Selling VPN like this is not serious.
