SpaceX’s ultimate goal is to build ‘Mars Base Alpha,’ it sounds like something straight out of a Sci-Fi novel but the aerospace company’s founder Elon Musk is hell-bent on making it a reality. He aims to build the first colony on the Red Planet within the next 20 years and hopes hundreds of brave astronauts could achieve building a self-sustaining colony by the year 2050.
NASA selected SpaceX to build a Starship Human Landing System (HLS) to return astronauts to the Moon by 2025. And the company also has multiple customers that booked circumlunar voyages set to happen in a couple of years, including Shift4 Payments founder/Inspiration4 commander Jared Isaacman, Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa, and Dennis Tito who made history as the first civilian space tourist to visit the International Space Station in 2001 aboard Russia’s Soyuz.
The ambitious timeline is what drives SpaceX engineers towards launching Starship to orbit before 2022 comes to a close.
In the past weeks, the company assessed the structural integrity of the fully-stacked Starship/Super Heavy vehicle at Starbase in South Texas. The vehicles are undergoing pre-flight tests before attempting the first-ever orbital flight. They performed a cryogenic proof test on Starship SN24 stacked atop Super Heavy Booster 7 – these are the prototypes that will be flown to orbit if all testing goes according to plan. During the cryogenic proof tests on October 24 and 26, engineers filled up the launch vehicles’ propellant tanks with inert liquid nitrogen to simulate the pressure the stainless-steel spacecraft will experience in-flight.

  1. Enough with the child game, too bad sls is not ready, if starship is ready to go, that let that American send his ship up for testing, ENOUGH WITH THE CHILD GAMES, WE ARE ALL ADULTS

  2. All elon has to do is sell starship to a billionaire in Mexico and keep the stock and then have starship launch 75 miles off the Yucatan peninsula !

  5. Really hope the B-squad flunkies at NASA and the FAA can find a way to get the F out of SpaceX's way.

  6. Nasa and the FAA are lucky they are dealing with Space X, because if they messed with New Glen this much the company would refuse to deal with them and they'd lose months or years trying to get someone again.

  7. Probably the first item on SpaceX's checklist should be to put a hypersonic rocket dead-center on FAA headquarters to remind uppity bureaucrats who can't actually accomplish anything to stay the hell out of the way of people who can.

  8. FAA is a pain in the a** for over a year now, with no major progress. Either the FAA does not want Spacex to launch, or people at Spacex scr** things up so the FAA can be used a an argument to gain more time to realisticaly devellop the Starship plus Booster concept. Or the "green" government actualy doesn't want the thing and blocks as much as they can without doing so openly.

    With megalomane projects you have to be carefull as many people do not want to explainit if it will not be possible. And I have some doubt; why not first test Booster 7 with less engines, like Starship was tested first? When the first flight will be made there is no cargo, no landing of Starship, why try it with 33 Raptor engines then? With no cargo and minimaly fueled Starship weighs less enough to try a less powerfull Booster 7 first, it could even be tried with the older Raptor engines instead of the new ones.
    Meanwhile all starts to look a bit strange to me. All the speed is out of the progress, and apart from test firing a few engines (7 so far instead of 33) and a few cryo tests not much is shown so far.

    Do get me right; I am all ears if they tell it all takes more time, that is easy to understand as Spacex had an extremely fast devellopement until the last year. Slowing down is ok! But then be honnest about that. So far the feeling of disapointment is growing.

  10. The FAA is delaying Starship so it doesn't show up Artemis1………..It's all politics.

  11. Elon is setting the bars and resetting them at a very quick pace. This is why I think it will launch soon. They're extremely cautious of the vapors self igniting with a 33 engine spin prime test. I believe they have adjusted for that. They just need to pull the trigger for a 33 engine test. If that goes good 🤞then a launch is imenanant.
    I don't blame them for slowing down a little this is a huge bungee type jump!

  13. That NASA guy must have slipped under their radar – he sounds really positive about a pre-xmas launch! Shouldn't be allowed – where are the well-paid dinosaurs gone, and their beloved fifty year halt plans?

  14. the "starship" is a nuclear escape pod for the rich. it will be packed with food and and water and be taken to a distant orbit to avoid a low orbit missiles
