Front Yard Garden

A Modern Urban Garden Makeover

See how landscape architect Joel Loblaw created an outdoor oasis in the city that will stand the test of time! He embraced the home’s traditional exterior and modern addition by transforming the dated backyard into a timeless yet on-trend hangout. Large mature trees provide ample shade, so low-maintenance shrubbery is a must, while a post and beam arbor connects the two seating areas. Plus, Joel shares how he added even more privacy with a dark-stained fence and foliage for a clean-lined, modern look.

  1. Loved this and love how simple the walkway is,its plan and simple and gives it that modern look,it’s awesome “u did that”!!!

  2. IMHO, the flagstone from before was much better. I feel that the main issue here would be creating privacy. Instead, the designers went to unnecessary expense and ridiculous catwalk (if at least they did pergola and wine over it, it would make sense).
    Another fool was taken.

  3. I like your comment about overdesigning.Creating a landscape in an existing shady area is a challenge. You've created a very smart, peaceful landscape.

  4. I love watching his videos even if the final outcome isn't my style. How can I hire this gentleman? Finding a real Landscape Designer or Architect is like chasing a unicorn. Anyone who pushes a lawn mower these days will call himself a landscaper.
