  1. thank you Colleen! I just took notes on this. 🙂 do you think you could make more videos on vegan gardening!?

  2. Ugh, I remember years ago seeing a guy carrying bone meal and it completely freaked me out. I had no idea that people used that stuff for gardening. Shudder…I will definitely be sure to buy a vegan fertilizer if I grow an herb garden again. Does anyone know if potting soil contain animal products?

  3. <——- newest sub Yah Yah Yah! We are vegan gardeners as well!! We have a channel so please check us out as well, Thank you for the video 🙂

  4. Nice video. You may also want to checkout the review of growing veggies on my blog at jasonreviews. com/growing-veggies-review/ Thanks, Bancroft.

  5. Excellent video on veganic gardening. Compost truly is the best way to build up the soil. I really recommend checking out Bealtaine Cottage on youtube. The woman follows veganic permaculture principles and plants for the pollinators. I love all your work, Colleen. Thank you so much for all you do!!! 🙂

  6. I would looooove to see more videos about veganic gardening! It's a lot more complex than I had imagined and the resources out there for vegans are minimal. I'm already feeling overwhelmed! It would be so cool if you did a vlog garden update, maybe even seasonally! <3

  7. Nice video. You may also want to checkout the review of growing veggies on my blog at garyreviews. com/growing-veggies-review/ Thanks. Pkl Hilary.

  8. Hello, could you give me a tips how you manage to handle garden pests like rats and some insects ?

  9. Dear Colleen, it’s fantastic that you are doing a video about veganic gardening!
I believe permaculture is the answer to the best strategies for all ethics including earth, environment, people and animals. The originators were not vegan, but now there are more and more people doing veganic permaculture. Since animals can help prepare the soil and care for forest gardens, thee is no better place for a farm animal sanctuary than a permaculture farm! I think this Wild Earth Farm and Sanctuary will impress you…

In Permaculture one learns ways to make the soil fertile without having to buy amendments from stores or using any animal products if so desired. Using mulch and planting plants that will mine the missing nutrients is the key. Compost from stores can have animal manure or horse manure in it that comes from very non-vegan industries. Everyone should make their own compost so they know what’s in it. Buying topsoil, compost or soil amendments from stores should only happen in the first year if possible, cause if it’s done correctly the soil and it’s inhabitants will enrichen it on it’s own.

  10. Weed tea! Stuff a 5-gallon bucket with weeds, fill it up with water, cover and let "cook" in the sun for a couple of weeks. I think the dilution ratio is something like 2 tablespoons of weed tea per gallon of water. Spray on foliage, or pour into soil around plants.

  11. Question please. I want to get a container, put purchased prepared soil in it, plant some vegetables, and let it grow. Can you refer me to a good plant-based store-bought soil and where to go to get starter plants that were started in only pkant-based soil and condtions?

  12. Hi! I just ran across this as I’m building my own house maybe next year? Idk. But can you list the products and link them in the description?

  13. Do you have more videos on gardening? I haven’t been vegan too long and I’ve never gardened but was going to buy seeds tomorrow. I hadn’t thought about the fact they use a bunch of animal products in everything.

  14. E. B Stone top soil uses Bat shit, aka Bat Guano. Idk if they changed their ingredients because I saw another vegan post that they use it online. I'm looking for a soil without shit it. literally shit smh

  15. I've seen a video of this guy mixing dirt, sand, perlite, whole chop potatoes, and whole banana chop and put in a container.

  16. This is my first time enjoying your YouTube channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much!

  17. Did you use compost when you planted? I can't find plant based compost anywhere and I want to get started on my garden?

  18. With a vegan vegetable garden, how do you 'combat' slugs and snails? In the permaculture sphere I've seen runner ducks and chickens being used to address that problem. Do the frogs and toads do the work for you? (A pond should help invite them). And/or do you have hedgehogs in your garden?

  19. I'm almost 5 years late seeing your video, but, hey, the information is still very useful. Thanks for sharing.

  20. Hey you still need to take b12 supplements. You don't get b12 from plants or micro nutrients. B12 only comes from bacteria. Our ancestors didn't need to worry about it because they drank the natural flowing water and ate plants dirty. But doing either of those can lead to other infections that can cause death.

  21. Hello new subscriber here! How do you mix your soil to start your bed? I am having a difficult time finding vegan friendly soil. Thank you 🙂

  22. What are good nutrients for small scale growing cooking herbs ?
