STRAWBERRY Planting Tips

If you live in a mild winter climate, now is an excellent time to plant strawberries. ⁣⁣Planting in the fall allows strawberries to be established by spring and gives you more strawberries! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣Here are a few tips: ⁣⁣
•Choose the best type of strawberry for your climate. Here in the low desert, Chandler and Sequoia are two of my favorites. ⁣⁣
•Don’t bury the crown (central growing point) it should remain above soil level. ⁣⁣
•Allow about 1 foot between plants.⁣⁣
•To encourage root production, remove flowers for 3-4 weeks after planting.⁣⁣
•Mulch strawberries to preserve moisture and keep strawberries from drying out.⁣⁣
