Alasdair Cameron's relaxed, informal family garden | Notes from a Garden

Alasdair Cameron spends most of his time designing gardens for other people via his company Cameron Landscapes & Gardens, but his own rural plot in Devon exerts a strong pull. Over a decade, he has transformed it from farmyard and field into a charming family garden that feels rooted in its rural landscape. ‘The aim was for the garden to melt seamlessly into the landscape, using borrowed and framed views to enhance the atmosphere,’ he says. Here he and his wife Tor give us a tour of the gardens, from the new meadows to the productive kitchen gardens.

  1. Responsible custodians … the right stuff. Excellent to see this and to be challenged also. Thank you.

  2. loved how ecological minded this garden yet while still being beautiful!
Would love to see more eco concious or sustainably minded content 🙂

  3. I too have borrowed landscape out back which has made a lovely backdrop! So many buildings and land surroundings in my area have certainly went to meadows. Were all doing our part!

  4. Beautiful natural sustainable garden. Wonderful family too! I’d love to see their home ! ☺️

  5. Your videos are great, Instagram business inquiries, looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks!

  6. Beautiful…..and it's just the garden. Hoping there is a video of the interior . A home in the country…or just a bit more rural might help me to forget what's going on in DC at this time. Or……I can just keep traveling…..Thank you for sharing. The carrots look delicious .

  7. The garden looks beautiful. BUT I can't believe it's low maintenance or that any flower borders look after themselves. In my garden weeds look after themselves and help themselves to any spot of soil hahaha! To have such neat rows of parsley the owners probably need to do weekly weeding.

  8. Living in a city I long for an escape to the country one day & look out to wild flower meadows & greenery. This was a beautiful reminder of how wonderful life can be. The horse at the end was such a treat.

  9. Thank you for sharing this type of content in this beautiful video format – just so inspiring and enlarging for one’s heart, mind and body!

  10. This guys are doing a great job for the nature and all of us. Thanks for that! Other should do the same thing.

  11. As an Aussie backpacker I worked for Alasdair in Chelsea circa 2000… great to see this garden and funny that I am watching it on my own little farm with similar elements. A lovely garden and inspiration. B
