  1. I love that you were just playing in the soil the whole time while you were talking. Same girl, same. So relaxing 😂

  2. Beware of breathing in the perlite dust, it's not safe, they write in on the package where I live) 💚 (also you can pre-moist it and then work with it)

  3. My mixture is a coco coir/ perlite mix and I add vermiculite and worm castings. My plants LOVE this mixture. I give them a good soaking once a month, I've never had any rot or bad leaves on them. I've also never had any bugs in mine either.
    They love it.

  4. Here's my tip. Before you plant a new plant in either a newly purchased soil or making your own, fill a 4" nursery pot with only the soil mix. No plant yet. Water it thoroughly. Observe how it drains. Then just let it sit. Observe how long it takes to dry completely or if it ever does.

  5. The timing of your videos just seems too perfect sometimes! I was just considering making my own mix and this looks to me like the perfect mixture for my plant care style so far. Also, I’m here to say thank you for the spongebob reference 😂

  6. Agreed! I literally have to repot a plant because I went way overboard on the perlite and the plant is not being watered enough for the type of substrate I put it in 😫

  7. Question: 🙋🏼‍♀️Probably a stupid question but if I use mosquito bit in Spag moss will it mold in there too? Only asking bc I have been having a fungus Kant issue and I have my Obliqua Peru in a huge like glass jar thing with moss and leca at the bottom for humidity. It is in a little pot, but I put the pot in the terrarium like vessel and I don’t want mold or anything to effect my baby. I was sketch when I did it but I only put a little. Should I redo it? Thanks 🙏🏻!!

  8. Can I use peat moss as a substitute for coco coir. I already have peat moss and I don’t want to have to spend more money :O

  9. Love that your mix is soil- and peatless. I also like to throw in some tree fern bark for moisture retention. But that I only use for my tripple- and four-digit plants as it’s quite expensive.

  10. This is well timed as this is repotting weekend for me! Thanks for sharing these great tips. Somewhat related question, I recently received a rooted hoya cutting in pon. I’m not a pon user nor know much about it, any recommendations for transferring it from pon to a soil mix? TIA ☺️

  11. I like to add lots of different types and colors of ingredients too so the potting mix is pretty and fun to look at, not stupid.

  12. Do you add organic matter (like compost or worm castings) – or does the liquid dirt do that? Sometimes I add fertilizer that’s basically bird guano because I like how it has organic matter in it

  13. 100% same recipe. And I couldn't agree more about perlite. It is nothing but powder by the time I'm at the end of the bag. IF it isn't powder when I get it. Everything. All of it. I agree. Whole heartedly!
My only add is that horticultural charcoal also adds drainage with very slight moisture retention.

  14. Tis the season for repotting! You always help motivate me to do the things I put off. I need to repot probably a dozen pants. I'll be headed to my local plant medium store and let store for soil ingredients! 😆 Thanks for doing what you do! Keep it up, you're doing great!
