Anyone off grid use a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer? Is it even possible?
I live near a large lake if I had to get water from it. But I have been stock piling water by the gallon, and have 3 of the 5 gal coleman containers. My house is very small, but I have been putting it under my bed.

You are not wrong ! It's happiness now in New York ,red flag has been put on the law enforcement to deside and take your fire arms ! They went from 72 calls per month to 2000 now government has the say so !
Been watching a while, finally subbed & I have picked back up on canning after many years of not. I just wanted to thank you for talking about this even knowing some will agree others not, to me it doesn't matter because everyone can have an opinion but be respectful. I want to THANK You for being willing to give a bit more specific guidelines on how much because not being a homesteader or previous prepper these are things that help us with specifics even just stating it's a goal that can be surpassed. I am praying my hubby will continue to get on board but I can only do what I can and leave him to God 😉 (I'm canning food for him anyway). Blessings to you and your family!
Have to disagree a little here. You can stockpile all you want but if you can’t defend it then it’s all for nothing. Hunkering down will only work if you have out lived 90% of the population or are so well hidden you can’t be found. Being mobile is survival in many SHTF situations. Unfortunately, people will take what others have!
Has any one worked out how many sq ft of storage is needed for all of this food and preps. Will I have enough space in my 1 bed apartment for it all or am I buying a farm?

Not only do I find your advice to be solid and logical, what I appreciate most of all is your humble, sweet spirit and concern for others. May God bless you (and all those seeking to prepare for their families) richly. I do everything I do knowing that God has my life in His hands. And the best prep we can make is to investigate the person of Christ, and hopefully to see how worthy He is to give Lordship of your life to. He has already delivered and saved me and I know He will not forsake me. That’s how I know I’m prepped and saved.
If the State where you live is humid insects can grow in a lot of grains.

OMG love the info but here in the UK our hoses are maybe not as large as your US houses so where in the world do i store all this stuff from raiders and disasters such as fire , just asking as it is a problem i would like to solve, many thanks from the UK.

Secure your water source and water purification. Do you know how to purify your water if you can't boil it? Do you know how to build your own water filtration system with charcoal, sand and pea gravel? What about with store bought filters and 5 gallon buckets? You can always get a Water BOB too.

I have a Berkey. I keep all milk and coke bottles clean them out really good. I then put tap water in them. If I need drinking water I put in the Berkey. Regular tap water for washing clothes and dishes then use that water to flush my commode.

There will always be those who will think the reason they don't have enough is because you have so much. History is full of examples of government confiscating resources as well. The quantities you speak of are also wasteful.

When it comes to mylar bags, have you found any that are not lined with aluminum?
Sigh. Apparently, we're further behind than I thought. And with winter coming, we will soon need to drain most of the water from our rain barrels. It's not easy for us to store so much water in a winter proof area.
