Winter Gardening Begins at Halloween! You Won't Believe What We Found

It is finally Halloween, and we are beginning the process of putting the garden to bed for the winter. Against all odds, we dug up a few more potatoes! These are in addition to the few already growing! The mini hoop house is still in the works, as we desperately need the rain that’s on the way, before we staple plastic over the frame. You’ll see it’s finished form by the first of November, when we replant our first ever winter potatoes!

  1. Awesome video Nina! Good idea on covering those beds and I like the way you snap those fingers and things just happen๐Ÿ˜Š
Iโ€™m glad I got to see you lick your fingers ๐Ÿ˜‰
Donโ€™t work Josh to hard now and Caroline.
I have to say Nina, you are a trooper! You didnโ€™t just dress up as a beautiful witch you worked in you garden beds in your costume. What a WOMAN!!

  2. Great outfit. Garden looking good. A light bulb in your greenhouse will keep things alive. Take care and stay well.

  3. Nina, I love that Josh your main Ghoul is able to use the T-150 staple to place the fencing over the bed and make a green house…The potatoes could have used the burnt material as pot ash is good potassium for root crops…. Hello to the Second in your Covent….Caroline!!! Remember fish heads and guts make great fertilizer also… Fine a paint barrel, with screw on lid, to put them in over the winter… They will rot and smell like hell or just bury the in the beds!!! 4. Nothing sexier than a Witch,,especially a barefoot Witch in the Garden. Happy Halloween Elvira!! Looks like a grave at 4:11 Ohhh BTW..you need a new fence!!

  5. Pile them leaves and grass clippings on heavy (4"-6") they will be gone in the spring. You need a small Mantis tiller. They save a lot of work and really loosens the soil. If you pile the leaves and clippings on then till them in they break down faster, and you can save the peat moss.
