  1. Great video J B but you still need to get up that allotment and build that greenhouse before the cold wet weathers sets in

  2. Google is right. 2 to 3 days max for the artichokes, after that they tend to really soften up. I gently fry them in butter, sliced ,salt and pepper until the edges start to crisp up. Gorgeous.

  3. Tip of the year JB. Jerusalem artichokes = 🤮 if you manage to stomach them, be prepared for 💨💨💨

  4. Ha ha you could come to Ireland after you finish at Liz's and clear my allotment ha ha. I'm like you, I call it,a randomer. Feel great after. Well done JB.

  5. Oh I do love you JB! And what a lovely wee surprise on a Wednesday night!! Your garden looks fab and in that delightful corner you unearthed I can see a wild flower patch in the future 🤔🤔. Thanks for a lovely wee video as usual JB… Oh and if you ever need a dog sitter… 😂 x

  6. Awesome surprise video! At least you're getting something that needs doing done 😄Cute doggo 😍And wow those were some long roots! I don't remember if I asked this before, but how long does it take you to get from home to the allotment?

  7. Don't give up your day job…kiddin'! LOL

I love your videos because you're just being real. People will love and respect you for how it is for you. I prefer that to those that only do it for the camera, soon or later people will be bored with it. So, continue to share how things are for you, failure or not. Smile at your success and try again when you have failures. Great video. 🙂

  8. Canadians use the term back yard too. I’m turning mine into mostly veg and flower garden so back yard may be a term I don’t use much longer! Love your channel. You have the hit the nail syndrome. Hit the nail, get something to paint over the hole, get some paint for the whole house… arhghghggh….

  9. Great video and lovely dog. I like the corner patch , you can plant flowers or a nice little perennial herbs patch.

  10. Sedge grass is a complete nightmare, you could put some more garlic there because when you come to harvest it next year you will need to re-dig over to get the sedge grass out again.

  11. Just remember when you do harvest the Jerusalem Artichokes—if you’re not used to eating them, start small until you’re used to them 😂 They are loaded with inulin! 💨🤩🤣

  12. Yeah, well, those roots are driving my wife crasy. She spends so much time digging soil and removing them. Eventually, roots snap and even the smallest part that is left in the soil starts growing and whole cycle repeats.

  13. For the Jerusalem artichokes, I dig them, soak them for a few days until I am ready for them. Then I peel them as much as I can with a potato/veggie peeler, slice them, and sautee them until they brown. I like getting a bit of a crust on them. Then stir and flip till they are soft. They are delicious and my husband actually prefers them in flavor over potatoes. We only have enough for a few meals. This year, they really seemed to suffer from the heat. I have not dug them up yet. I usually wait for the cold to kill the tops or for frost warning.

  14. 😅😂I so know what you mean about being compulsive and starting one thing and ending up doing something completely different. Love your enthusiasm. 🫶😊

  15. One forms an enlightened close bond with the workings of one’s colon tract upon introduction of JAs/SCs.

Worth the experience: Absolutely delicious roasted. If you enjoy them, you’ll get cravings every year before they’re fully mature. Leave the most unknobbly ones behind in the pot for next year. #genetics #easytoclean 😅

I’m fairly reliably informed that American Pioneers were introduced to them by natives who’d roast them slowly over a few days in earth covered fire pits. Wagon trains across the Wild West would leave uncooked spares along the trail for others caught short of supplies travelling the trails as winter was setting in early.

    #EssentialCarbs.

  16. That's pretty much how i work most of the time , a bit randomly 😂 somehow i get lots more done this way.
