  1. It's getting there! Won't have to put quite as much work into it next year – I hope!!! Want to figure out a perrenial garden for in front of the porch, so that doesn't have to be re-planted…

  2. Thanks, Mona! No, I'm gonna let Honey keep havin' the pleasure! I've had to cut my lawn, myself, for many, many years! I'll let him drive the Deere!!

  3. oh that's pretty.i'm excited to go get some Pentas so i can attract the bees and hummingbirds.Sunflowers are so pretty.

  4. Can't wait to see the sunflowers!! That's the great thing about planting – the anticipation and excitment watching things grow!!

  5. Excellent! I grew my Russian Giant sunflowers last year, they grew to about 12 ft tall. Got hundreds of seeds from 5 plants. Planted them this year and they are just starting to come up! I love sunflowers. They just brighten up your day! 😀

  6. How and when did you take the seeds from the sunflowers? I'll have to plant these each year, huh?

  7. At the end of the summer when the birds start to land on them to eat the seeds! Quickly cut them down. You then need to pull out all of the seeds from the middle of the flower and lay them out on dry news paper to keep the moisture out. Avoid putting them into a closed box! Give them a shake around every couple of days, until they dry out. If they get wet or damp they can go moldy,so keeping them inside somewhere dry where the mice can't get to them, just replant these each year! Free seeds! 😀

  8. Thank you! I'm new at this, but very excited to get the seeds from these for the birds – AND I can replant the black oil seeds next year! How cool is that??!!

  9. Glad it helped ya! 🙂 Yeah, that will be great to keep some for the birds and some to replant. If you can get hold of some 'russian giant' sunflowers from your local garden shop or online at amazon. They are so impressive and really are the king of sunflower. During the summer they are so beautiful and would look great in your new garden.
