www.gappsi.com 631 543-1177 A swimming pool can be built of steel and poured concrete walls. On this job we are setting up the forms to pour concrete walls. Re bar is installed between the forms to reinforce the concrete and the concrete is poured to fill the forms. As the concrete sets forms are stripped and the shape of the pool is achieved. Sonar tubes are installed next to the pool walls for a future concrete base support to prevent settling. The plumbing and electric is run to the proper location for pool operating machinery and then pool walls are back filled with clean fill. A sand or vermiculite base is installed for the pool floor base under the pool liner vermiculite will provide a harder and smoother surface to prevent any wrinkles and footprints on the liner. Next foam panels are installed to face the walls and steps in the pool. The liner now gets laid and secured to the top of the pool walls through a top mounted excursion and then the pool gets filled with water. Filters, pumps and heaters get connected to start the water circulation and pool operation. In this situation due to the grade cut a new retaining wall needed to be built at the lower level to create a level area for the pool patio. After the wall is completed and the pool area is leveled installation of the next wall is started for the next level. Installation of the second wall begins by creating a soft free form wall that wraps around the pool area incorporating the stairs that lead to the backyard house patio with a new porch and steps built by the sliding doors. Now the preparation for the pool patio installation begins. Using our thousand pound vibrating compactor roller we compact the ground around the pool. Gappsi has been utilizing this machinery to achieve great ground compaction next to pools for the past fifteen years. Next re bars are attached to the top of the pool walls in either concrete or steel walls and five foot wide wire mesh is tied to the re bars all around the pool. A concrete base is poured filling up the sonar tubes creating a concrete column support for the concrete slab. Now concrete is installed throughout the new pool patio area. Next is the installation of the pool coping several pool copings can be used to enhance the edge of the pool, tumbled stones, full nose or caps along with different color inserts. Sand gets installed over the concrete base to create a more precise and controlled grade to slope the patio to create proper drainage. The next step is to proceed with the installation of the pavers and do all the necessary cutting. By installing the Gappsi edge restraint system around the perimeter of the patio water will drain from underneath the paving stones into the adjacent flower beds and grass and it will allow the border to be flexible in freeze and thaw situations like the rest of the patio. Installation of the trees, flowers, grass, irrigation system, fencing and outdoor lighting follow the completion of the paving stone installation. By following these procedures this enables Gappsi to install a pool patio immediately following the installation of the pool without having to worry about settling of the patio. NeXTs the installation of the paving stone driveway over a recycled concrete base. We started with the removal and excavation of the existing driveway and grass digging twelve inches deep. After excavating and installing a new RCA base an intensive compaction is executed utilizing heavy mechanical compactors and the use of a substantial amount of water sprayed over the base. We install twelve inches of RCA for vehicle traffic areas and six inches of RCA for pedestrian use. Now an inch of sand gets leveled over the compacted base then the installation of the paving stones and of the Gappsi edge restraint system. Next in our slide show are pictures of projects installed by Gappsi for hundreds of satisfied customers.
