The heat of summer is upon us, which means slowed vegetable production. How do we keep our plots from becoming overgrown with weeds during these summer months? Join us as we’ll share some of our practices for using cover crops to keep our plots healthy until we plant more vegetables in them.

  2. I am a fan from your old channel😜 I am SO glad to find you here and I get a kick out of your wife..shes stepping up n doing it in fancy hat n make up.lol luv it

  3. There's a young falla learning to be a businessman. No video game for that I know of. Y'all might want to try the new wearable fans. One worn around the neck like a collar, one worn on the belt. I'm trying the belt one that blows air up the back. They are cheap and better than an August heat stroke.

  4. Brooklyn, I would just love to give you props for stepping up like you have. It's refreshing to see a couple work so hard as a team. I know it probably feels like a lot of weight with Travis being down. You got this. You're doing great and you're getting through it. And Travis, keep healing up and then cook that woman a special dinner when you get better! I think she's earned it. I hope you get well soon and heal up right. I've got my fingers crossed.

  5. Great hard working family ❤ What a cute veggie stand🍅🥭 and cute little entrepreneurs too❤Kudos to Brooklyn running the tiller❤ I've never ran any of our tillers..except for the mantis…been to scared to run the bigger ones! Thank you for sharing another great video 💙Have a blessed day🌄 Lazy dog farm family!

  6. The veg stand put a smile on my face ! Brooklyn did one nice tilling job there Travis. More showers up here in Southern, N.H. ! I think I saw a squash plant float away….(lol) Thanks for the video and take care.

  7. Nice job Brooklyn 👏 Abram, love the market stand. Entrepreneur in the making. 🥰

  8. Y'all make me SMILE so big, precious family! I hope you're recovering well, keeping you in prayer. If we were neighbors, I'd be buying produce from Abram! 🙂

  9. Enjoyable video as always! You have a beautiful family. Brooklyn looks far more put together and pretty gardening than I do. No mud or bug bites on her at all!😊
My buckwheat is going in tomorrow , it will only have about three weeks before I need to remove to plant fall crops . Do you suppose it will have any benefit in such a short time? Primarily I’m looking for weed prevention (I’ve got garden that wants to convert totally to purslane) so I suppose it would provide that benefit but would it do any phosphorus mining in that time frame?
    Great video.
    Thank you

  10. I started using buckwheat to cover crop this year mainly for weed control and because I started bee keeping this year. It's working great. The main reason I went with buckwheat is because it grows fast, it's effective, and it's about the only thing that will produce nectar for the bees during the hot days of summer. I just shallow till, spread the seed, and run over it with the lawn mower to let the tires press the seed in. It works perfectly, and best of all, no raking. Love the video, keep up the good work.

  11. Soooooo…..where can I buy a Lazy Dog Farm t-shirt? Sure would be cool to have one!
You guys are awesome! Love watching yall! I've learned from yall! I appreciate yall !!!

  12. I'm snapping beans from our garden and the farmer's market with my mom, and We're blanching and freezing corn from the market.
I'm going to try some okree in the air fryer soon because they had some today.
How long between something growing in a plot and planting a cover crop should you wait? I'm thinking about field peas where my corn is and some sort of grass once my main garden spot is played out.
    Y'all take care

  13. What music are you using in the videos? I would like to have that playlist. Great video as always. I enjoy seeing the little guys helping in the garden. Keep up the good work.

  14. Slave driving dog. I have a tip for ya on planting your cover crop. When commercial farmers are planting seed through a drop seeder they use an implement called a cultipacker. Some are mounted right on the planter and some are an Implement pulled behind another tractor. It’s ran over the field after the seed is dropped. I have been running over my plots with my zero turn after throwing and raking the seed. Covering every inch with the rear tires. Make sure the soil is not wet enough to stick to the tires. You will get better germination and not have to use as much seed. The mower is nowhere near as heavy as the cultipacker or the tractor pulling it. So don’t worry about that. You should trial it. Half and half. Make good video ya think?

  15. We've had really good luck with Buckwheat as a cover crop and as a pollinator attractant. Also tried some Sunn Hemp in a small spot…it was very popular with some critter, who ate it down to nubs when it was about a foot tall. Ground's been too hard for tracks, but I suspect the neighborhood mule that "visits" often. LOL!

  16. Buckwheat seeds have to be hulled. I don't know how to do that. We buy hulled buckwheat and grind to make buckwheat pancakes and other foods in winter. I grew some buckwheat last year and didn't get it out before seeding and now there's a lot more of it. Yeah, like a WEED.

  17. I live in the mountains of NC and by October we are getting frost. Is there anything I could use as a cover crop for my small garden.

  18. Travis, maybe you have talked about this but I just watched Living Soil documentary on YouTube. It was so good…very informative, gave suggestions for cover cropping and featured the company you mentioned Greencover. I am so glad I watched it and so glad you shared your experience with Greencover. I am going out tomorrow morning to fill in the gaps with cover crops!

  19. I live in NW GA and there is no way I could be out at 7:30 PM without long pants and boots. I don't know how y'all work in shorts and short boots without getting eaten alive by no-see-ums and skeeters.
