1. Consider views from inside the house.
2. Find your infrastructure , cables, drains, water pipes etc. BEFORE YOU DIG!
3. Fully understand your personal garden objectives.
4. Fully understand in detail all the elements of your personal plot and circumstances (Soil Type, Orientation, North South, Trees, Shade, Neighbours, Noise, Local Climate). Really get to know your plot extremely well.
5. Roll the tape forwards, look into the medium future to ensure your design will continue to work as it grows and matures.
6. Tenure, consider how long you will be present to enjoy your scheme, if your tenure at your property isn’t long ensure you will get value from your scheme before you leave.
7. Plot your plot. Consider using google earth.
8. Do lots of active looking to establish your own personal choice of garden aesthetic.
Look out for part 2. All about the aesthetic, tricks of the trade.

Great video Mark! Some very helpful tips here. Can't wait for part 2.
I totally agree about the view from in the main areas of the house. It can get so hot and humid we rarely sit outside. The mosquitoes can get awfully annoying.I never considered the tenure aspect, that is so true.
Mark! I’ve been binge watching your channel. I love the tips as I’m new to developing my own backyard plot. Keep up the amazing videos!
