MUST GROW plant for Florida Gardens| How we went from ZERO to 100lbs of Roselle(Hibiscus Sabdariffa)

#hiddenoakshomestead #homesteading

Roselle Hibiscus is extremely versatile. It’s ornamental and looks beautiful in flower arrangements. The leaves, stems, flower, and calyxes are all edible and provide a nutritious, fruity flavor. It’s also a medicinal plant with tons of benefits.

We’re a small family farm in the Florida Panhandle. After relocating back home from the Middle East we wanted to build up the most self- sufficient lifestyle possible with our kids, in order to grow as much of our own food as possible. Through raising livestock, tending to a garden, preserving food through canning and fermenting, learning about local fauna for medicinals and wild edibles, we are hoping to encourage others to do as much as possible for themselves through re-learning some of the forgotten “old” skills.

  1. I planted this year a roselle. I got a nice harvest from it. I enjoyed making a tea from it. I only had one plant. But looking forward, I think I will grow more to be able to have enough to the jam. Thank you for sharing.
