SMALL SPACE TOUR – Woman's Gorgeous 400 ft² Studio Apartment

Farida’s 400-square-foot studio apartment in Toronto, Canada is perfectly set up for a creative young professional. She’s been living here for almost 4 years and has done a great job of creating defined spaces within the open-concept condo space. She has a twin bed at one end which saves loads of floor space, and a wall unit that provides storage for books and crafts, but also acts as a room divider for a bit of privacy. She has a full-size closet for clothes, a desk for doing hair and makeup, and also for sewing projects. In the living room, she has a loveseat which is perfect for lounging, and a comfy spot to do her cross-stitch projects. In the kitchen, there’s a small table for eating or for computer work and a linear kitchen with a surprising amount of pantry storage space. Finally, in the hallway, there’s a coat closet, a laundry closet, a bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a bit of an entryway. There’s also a West-facing balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows all along one wall of the condo.

We love checking out small and alternative spaces like tiny houses, yurts, float homes, etc. but it’s also worth remembering that there are loads of small apartments and condos in cities that allow for simple, minimalist living if that’s where you want/need to be. Small space living isn’t restricted to rural areas or to alternative structures. That being said, living in the city can be quite expensive (although rural living might appear cheaper, but you often need a vehicle!). Lots of things to consider when choosing where and how you want to live 🙂

Thanks for watching!

  1. the species is ready for multiple generations of space-station living, be it terrestrially or celestially

  2. What a beautiful apartment Farida has I'm just wondering has she watched Alexandra Gater's channel on YouTube there are a few similarities in decorating here…which is a good thing I love watching Alexandra and her team fix up small spaces 🙂

  3. The floorplan of the condo itself is well designed and that is the difference many condo spaces in Australia are poorly designed and offer no flexibility therefore added to the small area they are restrictive in use. This one feels flexible I was imagining at least 3 ways you could utilise the space I would live there. 👍

  4. I love your home. Minimal without being sparse. Functional. Airy & bright.
People forget that when you have to (or might) move around a lot that you focus on the basics + enough to turn a space into a home. Very well done. Congrats on sharing your hobby and talent with others online.

  5. This is such a lovely and cozy space. We really like the way she divided her different living zones. Cool. 👍👍Thanks Matt and Danielle ❤

  6. I didn't see/hear you say anything about storage under your bed. As someone who has lived in a studio, and now an Apt. It comes in handy. P.S. Beautiful Apt!

  7. Wow 😍. Kudos Farida… It's amazing what you have done to 400 sq ft. space…
So it's true then PASSION does make one's dream comes true… 😇

  8. I thought the apartment looked great. Until I realized it was in Toronto. Toronto is a terrible and over-rated city. Real miserable from all my experiences and most accounts I hear. The armpit of Ontario!!!! trashy, yet expensive? Yuck.

  9. That's impressive. I also have a small linear kitchen, and I have nowhere near that amount of storage space.

  10. What a beautiful and smart set up. Every detail well thought out. You're so creative and I LOVE what you've done with your home!

  11. Nice home!
I'd have to position the bed and couch so I could take advantage of the lovely view.

  12. Your apartment is gorgeous, I like how you separated all the different areas and there also seems to be a lot of storage space. I could see myself living there.

  13. Wow… extremely clean, fresh and beautiful home..well done …it's extremely functionality is key in small space..but all work very well I could live there..

  14. Beautiful and great use of space. I recommend adding an Arrow or Horn sewing machine cabinet. They are life changing if you sew in a small place!
