Cut from My Garden- Color Palettes and Plans for Successful Floral Designs

There were so many gorgeous dahlias blooming this week that demanded to be cut that I thought we’d start a new 3 part series. In this episode, I’m cutting flowers to create color palettes for the dahlias in two distinct color stories and talking about the process of choosing colors to enhance show stopping flowers. I’ll also talk about cutting with a plan for size and scale, both in the size and shape of the flowers as well as thinking about what size you want the finished piece.

Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell so you don’t miss the rest of the series these next few weeks. Spoiler alert: the designs I made with these flowers are GORGEOUS if I do say so myself ๐Ÿ˜Š

I get my music & sound fx from Soundstripe, as a newer YouTuber I wanted a custom feel to my soundtracks without the crazy cost of some of the big licensing companies that charge by song, with Soundstripe-itโ€™s one monthly or annual fee and unlimited access to their library which I find full of cool, contemporary and interesting options. As an affiliate, Iโ€™m happy to recommend them to you all! Click the link below to see the available plans:

  1. Such beautiful flowers and colors you have. Thank you for explaining the different sizes to use in an arrangement. Thank you for the video ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

  2. I don't know how I missed this one, it was perfect for me, as I am planning my landscaping and wondering what to do with the "Stainless Steel" rose that does not go with anything else in my yard. (Look that Weeks rose up, it might be wonderful for you.) For years I made arrangements for my grandmother every month from the flowers from her yard, now I would like to be able to do that with my yard. One note, she had those metal frogs and they were usually harder to work with than making the foliage base (something I learned from her flower arranging books from the 50's) and adding the flowers in the "web" of foliage…glad I stumbled on a good way to do it.
