Harvesting container grown sweet potatoes in Northern Illinois. I started growing sweet potato slips in February and harvested the sweet potatoes on October 5th. All of my sweet potatoes were grown in fabric bags also known as grow bags.
I grew Jewel, Japanese, Ruby Red, and Purple Stokes sweet potatoes. These are all 120-day varieties. All of them have grown in grow bags, on my deck that gets about 7 hours of sun. You can grow sweet potatoes in containers anywhere.
