Grow this crop as your emergency food supply!

If you garden or farm in a warmer climate, this is a must-have survival crop.

We’ve now discovered that growing cassava isn’t limited to the tropics. We are now successfully growing multiple varieties in zone 8! Here’s how we figured out how far north cassava would grow for us.

If times get tough, make sure you’re growing cassava!

Grow cassava as your survival food supply and you’ll have a food pantry right in the ground, year-round. This tropical root crop is also known as yuca, manioc and tapioca. Cassava roots are starchy and dense, with good flavor. Along with yams and sweet potatoes, cassava are one of my favorite survival gardening crops for warm climates. #survivalfood #easygardening #prepping It’s very easy to have a self-suffient prepper garden if you have space for cassava.

  1. I make a great non gmo organic Cassava Latte with cassava milk obv and pair it with some sweet potato cookies. Starbux has nothing on thiss.

All kidding aside, where can I get the big roots? You selling them? Pretty please with cassava on top?

  2. I got my first cassava cuttings from Grower Jim like you suggested in one of your books. I've bought a few things from him since.

  3. We grow some cassava, some of that clump is still growing out in the yard, but it was so bitter that we couldn't eat it.
How do you select for a non bitter variety?
I think I heard you say once that the bitterness is related to how toxic they are.

  4. Hello David how are you? I am from Indonesia, Bali so good to get lot of knowledge from you all about Healthy and healthy universe. Thanks you so very much🙏. Can you use single material for making liquid fertilizers as ( 🐄cow manure.?? I have lost of 🐄 manure. Making compos taking long time? Thanks you so very much🙏. Sorry my Inglis not so good l. 5. I don't even remember when I planted out my cassavas tbh but this is the first time I've tried them. How do you save planting material over the winter? I vaguely remember your trashcan method but not the details of it

  6. I would totally do that… But it seems like there's no way for me to find cuttings in Italy. Sadly.
I'm trying to make the roots I found in ethnic stores sprout but I've failed all my attempts up to date. Any suggestions? I'm totally not a Cassava expert…

  7. I have cassava growing in areas where Nothing else will grow. It is a huge producer and it costs NOTHING to plant or maintain. I leave it in the ground until I need it. I plant 25 to 50 every day! Another huge producer for me is MUNG BEANS.

  8. In one of your previous videos you were using a tool to help break up soil. You stood on it, pushed in ground, and then pulled the dirt up a bit. What is that tool called please?

  9. Well dang it Dave! If I grow it, what I am supposed to do with it? Have you googled cassava? All I get is "cyanide" and " needs processing". I'm in central Florida and it sounds like a good thing BUT I got no clue what to do with it even if I plant it. 🤷‍♀️

  10. 😢 guess that leaves me out lol. Z5/6 Northern Nevada desert. Teens are in the future 🥶🥶.
Prayers for ya’all dealing with the weather issues 🙏🙏🙏. 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

  11. Survival root crops are well and good including potato, dahlia, yacon, skirrit, and cassava, but does anyone still recommend growing medium and large winter squashes of the very long storing varieties?
