What makes this system particularly concerning at this point in time is not the snow and rain totals but the potentially record-breaking cold air it will bring far and deep into the U.S. This could result in a very early freeze as far as Atlanta. This could be something we haven't seen in years.

I have been wanting cold, fixing to get it next week. Next week suppose to have several nights below freezing., been a while since its been this cold in Oct. ,in North Ala. Thanks good as usual.
Inch+ of snow on the deck/ground early this morning. Snow showers all day & 3 cumulative sleet/ice rain/hail storms on south side of Lake Mille Lacs MN brrrrrr lots of random "downpours" all day. Intermittent sun strong enough to melt everything untillllll 6pm. Now it's here to stay. Had to clear off the deck/steps @6.
I live in the Cleveland Ohio area, Tradition is to make a pot of chili on the 1st snowfall that sticks on the ground in my area.. What do you think I will get? Am I making chili?
