FRONT YARD FLOWER GARDEN / Perennial Flowers for Zone 9b / Updating Drip Irrigation / Hard Clay Soil

ZONE 9B PERENNIALS / RE-PLANTING & FIXING IRRIGATION

We ripped out our lawn and planted low-water and drought tolerant perennials about two years ago. Unfortunately, this past summer heat along with too little watering (our fault) caused more than a few of our pollinator friendly plants to die. This past weekend we purchased some new plants and are showing you what we are planting here in Sacramento, CA (#Zone 9b) that we think will do well in our climate! Fall is the best time to plant new perennials.

Today’s video is broken down into parts:
Check out what we are planting: 01:12
How to dig in clay soil: 04:48
How to revive or save a plant: 12:10
How to irrigate plants in zone 9b: 14:45

Our Liberty House is a gardening lifestyle channel. Lucas & Beth live in Zone 9b, Sacramento, CA, (with their dog, Liberty!) and garden in 6 raised beds in our backyard garden. Together, we garden year-round and share what we are growing and what we are learning along the way. Our gardening strategy is to create a garden full of diversity. We intermix vegetables, flowers, and herbs to create an ecosystem where beneficial insects thrive. We avoid all pesticides and instead plant things that will take care of pests for us. We compost and try to live a sustainable life where we can ‘eat what we grow’ from our backyard garden. Thanks for joining us on our journey!
