How native plants are physically arranged in the garden usually does not impact their ecological value. Many people have a misconception that using native plants in landscape design means that the style must look like a natural woodland or prairie. NCNPS member, landscape architect and horticulture director for the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens, Ed Davis, will give tips on how to incorporate native plants into gardens of different types…even formal designs.
Ed will also review some of the lessons he has learned in the design, implementation and management of the Mellichamp Natives Terrace garden display at botanical gardens. He will share which native plants have performed well and some of his favorite plant combinations.
