  1. New sub here 👋 hi
If you wet the soil a lil bit the root ball will come loose easier. I split like 7-9 peppers that way

  2. if you run the rootballs under water or dip them in a cup of water they will easily come apart

  3. We were checking out at WM, girl saw 3 tomato plants in pot, asked me did I want to get a better pot, I just looked at her .

  4. Good video thanks from London England 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

  5. I was at Walmart years ago and they had a bunch of roses dumped out on a pallet they were getting ready to trash them I asked if I could have some of them she said I can’t give them to you but I can sell them to you so I said I’ll give you 1$ for them so I got about five of them cleaned them up and they are still thriving to this day ❤️

  6. Here our stores like Home Depot and Lowes don't reduce the prices. They prefer to return the dying plants, by the shopping cart full, to their suppliers, for a refund, rather than sell at a discount. It's awful.

  7. Learned this from another youtuber….and tried it this year. Didn't have to buy much….peppers were in 4 packs already….but scored a sun sugar tomato that had 2 plants. Brought home and up potted. Worked wonderfully. They are big and beautiful! Will always look for more than one.

  8. A much easier way of separating the roots is to set the entire root ball into a bucket full of warm water and gently work the water into the soil. It will loosen up the roots much faster and you can leave the bare roots in the bucket for a few minutes while you're planting each one!

  9. Thank you so much for this video. I am new to gardening. I've grown a lot from seed but have purchased some pepper, tomatoe and pumpkin plants, and didn't realize that there were several plants in each container. I successfully separated some and one plant, a pumpkin, I purchased for 4 bucks had 4 plants in it! I would have never known and just stuck the whole thing in the garden, without separating. Your video made my whole day!

  10. is there a specific type of soil to keep plant roots healthy and free of pest? is there an affordable way to prevent water logged into pots? thank you kindly for your help.

  11. Wow great tips! Your really good at this separating so I should ask you got any tips for separating women when they team up at a night club?

  12. Great video but if you really want to get free plants go dumpster diving just makes sure there is no ordinance against dumpster diving. Happy plant huntings. Do your due diligence and make sure it is not illegal.

  13. Wondering if you have any tips for doing with this squash plants? The ones we started from seed quit growing after we had a late frost- decided to dig them up and plant some we got at the store. Separated about 3 plants from each (6 total) with minimum root damage. Planted them in the raised beds where our previous squash plants were, but 2 are so wilted today that they look like they are not going to make it.

  14. You can also get free plants by sticking them up your sweatshirt and sauntering nonchalantly out of the store…

  15. Since I’ve always been frugal any time I’ve purchased veggies or flowers I always check the pots and try to find the ones with more than one in each. Many times things on the discount racks make it into my shopping cart also. Enjoy your videos.

  16. Hi. I am a vendor for a big box store (orange aprons) This is a fantastic video. I am so happy someone is bringing attention to this. The stores do not own the plants until they go through the checkout line. They mark up the plants to outrageous costs so at the nursery we add several plants to the pots, we also do this w annuals & perennials. It helps the consumer get a bit more for their $. Always move the leaves aside to see exactly how many units are planted in your potter.

  17. This is something I like to do too, even if florida is a nightmare to try to garden in. Something I do which is even less stressful is fill a bucket or something with water and dip the whole rootball and dirt into it and shake it around gently. The water will remove almost all the dirt and separate the plants without damaging the roots. I always save the soil that come off to mix in where I plant as they are more used to it. Its worked great so far.

  18. Hi. This is what I usually do if I want to separate multiple plants in a pot. Squeeze the plants out of the pot and then dip / submerge the soil portion in a bowl with water. The soil will loosen from the roots then gently untangle the roots
