How To Kill Weeds In Landscape

Killing weeds in landscape areas is always a challenge especially during the rainy season. We don’t have many mulch beds here in El Paso, Tx but we do have plenty of rock beds.

Our city practice Xeriscape and the utilization of rock is a very common landscape application. Even though weed barriers are put down, weeds and grass still manage to find its way through the material. So killing weeds effectively is always a challenge and can be overwhelming. Killing weeds in landscape areas can be done with a few techniques. The most effective that I have found is the use of Non-selective herbicides and staying on top of the problem before it’s gets out of hand.

  1. Very informative. Thank you so much.
Does Natria kill the grass seeds also?
How long should one wait before planting something in the area that just cleared out the weed/grass with Natria.
    Thank you so much again.

  2. My parents has flowers bands and it’s got a lots of weeds what can of weeds killer to spray in the flowers bend

  3. Thanks for the video. I am still confused. I have a rock bed with plants spaced a couple feet a part from each other. Is it safe to use the Naturia on the weeds and not kill the plants or not? I live near Seattle where it is cool and wet and my rock bed has some random weeds throughout. The rocks make it difficult to work and get the weeds. I used rocks instead of mulch, but now that’s an issue too!

  4. Thank you for this video! I live in a rental townhome and my backyard is completely xeroscaped. Unfortunately, the barrier fabric has ripped (if I owned the property I would just redo the fabric) and occasionally there is an influx of grass so hopefully, Natria does the job!

  5. GET TO THE POINT! You wasted 30 minutes of my life for basically 2 minutes of info and still never talked about % of mixtures of surfactants with concentrate or non-concentrate, etc. You know, THE IMPORTANT stuff!

  6. Thank you! we're in Colorado and xeriscaped our backyard last year and now the weeds are coming up. this is super helpful. luckily I think we're early enough for herbicide. Question though: we have tons of branches and leaves that fall throughout the year – I try to stay on top of it but think they are filling up the rock beds a bit. Any advice on that?

  7. I got some of this today. Sprayed the rock bed by my pool and it’s dying a hour later

  8. When buying a Selective weed killer:
*Is organic as efficient as non-organic?
*What ingredient should we look for and what percentage?
*Instead of baby shampoo, will a few drops of Dawn dishwashing soap work?
*What brand of Selective herbicide do you recommend that is organic and similar to Natria?

    Thank you!

  9. Is there anything you can put down on a zeroscape around a tree (Sycamore) to kill weeds, that won't damage the tree?

  10. My best friend busted out my car’s back window many years ago 🤦🏽‍♀️ like why didn’t you let down the garage door?!

  11. Hi Chris! I'm not in the El Paso area but I am curious what is the best type of herbacide to use in a landscape rock bed (with shrubs and plants)? You mentioned hiding cardboard to shield the plants but do you have a product that you've had good success with? I'm looking at eradicating mostly broad leaf weeds, some grass, and nutsedge. Thank you!!!

  12. I've spent 2 days pulling weeds and got my workout :D…. may invest in some chemical help.

  13. Using that manuel hoe is the best tool for these type of weeds! I been using it for years .. it cuts from the root, its fast , you rake the rocks after, the tones of rocks evens out, easily with a rake ,its no issue. This yard hes showing would take 20 minutes 1 person. People dont like using it because their lazy the hoe takes finness 👌🏽 and looks great when used right. Then with your push broom or blower get debry or rocks that poped towards the concrete.
