  1. Old Rich still watching ya on occasion, the hardcore gardener told ya years ago you'd be good at this on camera thing, better than me.

  2. My bunny LUVES BASIL🐾🐾…I Harvest & let some bloom 4 bees. Also cut & dry out in bloom for Fall Decorating! Bummer I don't care for pesto😥but I do in tomato sauce😁

  3. I’ve been looking forward to this video 😊. I’m waiting for my basil to get going here in Oz and I’ll be making heaps of pesto. When my daughter was in primary school they had a no nut policy due to kids with allergies, so we used sunflower seeds (inexpensive as well) and I always add some lemon juice to keep the vibrant green colour. Thanks for another beautiful video Kim

  4. Super cute dress CaliKim! I’ve made a bunch this year since I had such a great basil year, one batch I roasted my homegrown elephant garlic and added that instead! Oh so delicious. Thanks 😊🌿🌿

  5. A little trick to get the air out of plastic bag, after placing your itmes in the bag, seal it 90% and then dip the bag in a small tub of water. but not to the top of course.

  6. It looks so yummy 😊 and easy this is a must try thank you ☺️

  7. Thanks for making and posting this video with the pesto recipe. I will be harvesting my basil to make some!

  8. Great video!! Time for this Wahini to go outside and harvest some basil‼️I love the pine nuts but only have raw cashews raw almonds and pecans which ones would you choose?
I’m thinking pecans. I have everything to make it too. Yay for CaliKim & CaliCameraGuy’s Inspiring video’s. 🤙🏽

  9. You are SO RIGHT about the ease efficiency and effectiveness of making pesto (and so much more) with a food processor rather than a high speed blender. As far as I'm concerned the only thing those blenders might be able to do better than a good food processor is make frozen cocktails or smoothies.

I'm in in SC zone 8a and did my big (almost final) Basil harvest a few weeks ago in early October and made batches of pesto I froze without cheese (as they say if you are freezing the Basil, it is better to add the cheese just before you use it after you have defrosted the basic Pesto without the dairy). Although last night , just before a 3 weeks premature freeze warning, I went out and harvested the last bits of leaves. There were also a ton of green tomatoes that were still growing i had to harvest and now am wondering how I can best use.

I was pretty good about dead heading the Basil flower at the top of each plant during the spring and summer and early fall before they bolted too much which extended the amount of time I had bountiful fresh Basil. I wish there was a way to do the same thing with Cilantro.

  10. Oh, there is nothing better! We like to add it to homemade pizza, the first layer of sauce is actually pesto.

  11. Kim, I just saw your thumbnail and I am so excited!! I have a HUGE amount of basil I need to process! And now, I will watch!!

  12. I’ve got a lot of basil that I should harvest before it goes to seed…another project to put on the list! 🥰
