Hey guys!! In today’s video I’m sharing with you the next segment in my garden series – how we built our raised beds and actually planting our seedlings, how exciting!!! I’m uploading this video a little later than when it was actually filmed, we planted everything the week after Mother’s Day just to give you an idea. I walk through what materials we used for the raised beds, how Matt built them (so easy!), how I filled up the beds & what soil I used (plus a hack for saving money), as well as an overview of how my seedlings faired + their journey into the soil.

  1. To the 1% of people that read this comment.. hope you have a great day/night
    !❤️From a small youtube vlogger!

  2. You got this! Starting a compost is easy and cheap and then you can mix that in next year. You don't need crazy add ins. Bone meal and blood meal along with compost will help enrich your soil for next year. I totally get how overwhelming it is. Baby steps and keep it simple. I live in the same zone as you, weather and soil are very forgiving to plants here.

  3. Check out CaliKim29. Organic gardening. I have learned a lot from her. I am a new gardener also. Want to grow some strawberries. Heard they will come back year after year in my zone! Small baby steps. I have also started a lemon tree from seed.

  4. We have an arch and have green beans and cucumbers growing up it it's easy to pick from

  5. Yeay! Very exciting! Next year you should look into square foot gardening. You could probably have fit all of that into 2 or 3 beds. You'd be surprised by how little room some plants need to thrive.

  6. Tip! Next time kill the grass 1st! We just put a tarp down over winter in that area and by spring the grass died !

  7. Definitely look into square foot gardening next year! I just have one small planter box and can get a surprisingly large amount of stuff.

  8. Just for future, this year was my first garden and i just put my seeds straight in the ground and now i pick about 9 cucumbers a day. I didnt do all the extra work lol

  9. I loved your video!! I always watch your IG stories because of your content but also Hayden is so cute lol 🙈🙈 if you still have spinach seeds, you can still throw them where you have space, I did that and it grew really fast!! For the little one, try planting the seeds directly into the soil, it’s easier than having to babysit seedlings lol you won’t regret 😜 can’t wait for the updates!!!!!

  10. I love this! I just barely started getting into gardening. I even uploaded a VLOG about it! Thank you for your great content💕

  11. Super excited to watch your garden grow! I wish I was allowed to do this but can't with the strata by laws we have.

  12. I’m starting my first garden too! I’m doing a fall garden/raised bed. I’m cheating and buying starts from the garden shop but I’m so excited to have fresh veggies this winter!!
