  2. Another tip. Hollis & Nancy channel. Hollis takes a flatware knife, bends the tip about 1 1/2 inches. He use it to pull the dirt away from the base of the bulb. When he sees the onion bulb starts to swell.

  3. Back in the early sixty's UK. I entered my onions in the local flower show. expecting first prize. but they were disqualified. The judge wrights on the ticket. To Large for culinary use, the onions that won were all sizes and small. also this man won every year with his Onions. my Onions all weighed about 6lbs each. grown from seed and planted on boxing day. the seed was called Kelso. 8 of us in the family so not to big for us. the Judge was Biased. I found soda and sugar a good feed.

  4. Thanks for your vids man๐Ÿ‘Œ I've been gardening from a young boy basically chores, but I really enjoyed it. It was the 80's and early 90's. Tilled the soil in between the plants, row of tomatoes, row of chillies… the flowers were in the front yard veggies at back. Hardly composted or fertilized. Lotsa pests, small fruit and veg. Now 43 yrs young, I have extensive knowledge on plant/soil nutrition. I'm living on a very small rental now and only do pots. The pests are overwhelming! I've heard of companion planting but don't know why I haven't tried it ๐Ÿ˜• I have garlic in a large pot, so I'm gonna sow a chilly tree in there. I will put some Marigolds around too. Thanks again man๐Ÿค you've just got yourself a new subscriber๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

  5. So thankful we found you esp. since your teachings are for our area. You are truly an excellent teacher. Also, I like the way you show from start to finish.

  6. Nice video and demonstrates the benefits of companion plants. All that artificial fertilizers is not the way to go. I don't understand the need if soil is healthy

  7. Fertilizer is key, not dripsystem or intercropping. Fertilizing makes deeper bigger roots that can hydrate the plant more. Intercropping with tomatoes can be bad since they like different ph.

Next year try just Jax, potash and some high N in the beginning

  8. im in the north east massachusettes what type of onions do you recomend im a beginer so knowledge will serve me well thank you.

  9. Loved this! Great job! I have a pruduction ag degree from Shasta College and did not ever know until your video that day length determines what varieties to grow. Thanks so much and happy gardening !

  10. If you do a follow up of this trial, I would be really interested in hearing the results of the peppers you interplanted the onions did. Did both crops benefit from the interplanting and irrigation? I am watching this video in early spring and my seed sown onions are very slow to get going because of the cool, wet weather.

  11. Great Video! The secret to ALL root vegetables is worms…They fertilize and aerate the soil ๐Ÿ™‚ I raise 2 million worms for educational purposes and for fertilizer for myself and my neighbors garden. Whenever I have some extra, I always put them in my root vegetable beds ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I'm curious about how you manage your watering? I've heard that peppers don't like moist soil but onions need a decent amount of water to be healthy.
