In today’s 2 minute garden tip, I show you how to thin seedlings for bigger harvests and maximizing the space in your garden! To compensate for seed germination rates, overseeding is necessary to ensure we have enough plants for the season. This overseeding will lead to seedling thinning.
Whether you’re starting seeds in seed trays or sowing seeds directly in ground, thinning seedlings is necessary to ensure each plant has enough room to grow. Overcroweded plants suffer from low vigor and poor production, so do not skip this step! This video will teach you how to overseed, how to thin plants with confidence, and when the best time to thin your seedlings is, because it may not be when you think!

You can save a lot of your thinnings and throw them in salads😁
I guess all my instincts aren't all wackadoodle.. I just snipped a bunch of chard (but then I ate it) to thin my pots out. I was going to pull them but thought.. nope, if I do that I'll piss off the neighbor's roots.
Might you know if jicama needs to be cured? I harvested a couple this morning.

I still agree with you in some instances like your cabbage example, but I planted carrots in mid August this year by placing 1 seed every 2” in wet toilet paper and then placing the tp in the drill and it worked wonderfully. Not only did I not have to thin carrots which is one of the worst garden jobs ever, but my carrots grew way faster with no competition.
