Hi, this is Andrew here with GeoPot at Pacific Northwest Garden Supply’s customer appreciation day 2014. I’m here to introduce you to the GeoPot Transplanter model.
The GeoPots are our brand of fabric pots. Some of the benefits of using fabric pots are air-root pruning, which basically means with a normal plastic container as your roots grow out to the edge, they’re going to start wrapping around the plant, eventually making it root bound.
What happens with this is the root is going to grow out of the edge of the pot. It’s going to be exposed to the air and it’s getting to be topping the plant, spread the growth into other areas. So instead of having taproots, you’re going to have a diverse system of feeder roots, which are much more efficient taking in nutrients as well as water.
One of the big problems with using fabric pots in the past for transplanting was it was very difficult to kind of get the plant out of the fabric pot. What we’ve decided to do is we put in a Velcro seam on our transplanter model, so all you have to do when it comes times to transplant and give it a little water so the root ball stays intact, open them up, grab the root ball, next container, easiest pot.
We also make tan models. These are good for people who are in warmer climates. That’s a 2-degree cooler root zone than the black one. The black one is going to be much cooler than plastic pots because it does allow for breathability. So we have tan models, black models. You can even get them with handles.
