How To Landscape a Steep Slope For Beauty and Low Maintenance

Tommy Cowett Shows the process of designing and installing a landscape for a steep slope. This area is very hard to maintain and dangerous to mow. It had become overgrown with weeds and undesirable grasses. He discusses plant selection for seasonal color and interest as well as spread to occupy the entire area to make maintenance much easier. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

  1. ROUNDUP???? Really? A professional that has to resort to poison …so much for safe water, safe environment for pollinators. I will never watch his videos again if thats the best he can do.

  2. This was beautiful do you have any recommendations for a similar hillside lawn to steep for mowing where cold and or windy conditions often kill plants such as the ones you planted in this video

  3. I have a problem in my back yard that is on slope, the dirt is washing down. I live on PA, thanks for your video.

  4. beautiful neighborhood. so the pine needles is the main coverage to keep grass from growing there plus not allowing erosion ?

  5. Nice video. However you should take Instructions from woodprix if you want to learn how to make it easily.

  6. Can you explain the irrigation system that you used?..I have a steep slope and only discovered the existence of an irrigation system through this video. I anticipated using sprinklers and spending my day moving the sprinklers around.

  7. Nothing OK about Roundup! Do not use it — period. Our insects and especially our pollinators are crashing. Do not promote the use of Roundup. It needs to be banned.

  8. If you killed off the grass with 2 applications of Roundup you do not understand the natural ecosystem & how the overuse of chemicals is destroying it. Roundup is a lazy way to remove weeds & unwanted. grass

  9. Very nice design. Would love to get a list of the plants that went into this project. I listened but I don't think all were mentioned. : ) Nice color choices. Lot of hard work I can tell.

  10. That painted on brick is pretty amazing. I enjoyed watching this and your plant descriptions with height. Also the drip installation. I,need to learn more about it.

  11. Now we know better than to use Round Up. I hope you stopped using it. It gets in the ground water which we drink and bathe in and water our food, the bees spread it and put it in the food supply… Toxic!!

  12. Hard to believe that in this age of technology available you still dont know the dangers of glyphosate (Roundup). PLEASE, dont continue being an asshole – educate yourself and stop using this extremely toxic carcinogenic product.

  13. a 'gardener' that starts by applying tons of roundup on a site where he wants to plant a border *facepalm

  14. Awesome video, nice job too explaining drip system installation. Not so intimidating now! We have a steep slope so now I have ideas for it. Not sure what kind of mulch bed you used though.
