Garden Plans

My Garden Plans Changed | Mid-Season Planting

Doing a pantry inventory, and then seeing clearance plants at the store, will certainly change ones garden plans. Plus, they’ve been there sitting and baking the hot sun for months now. Nobody wants them. They needed a home ❤ I had to save them.

Hopefully these mid season Tomatoes have long enough to produce large quantities for me.

  1. Rachel I am the same as I cannot resist plants when they call out "BUY ME" – it is so cold here today in Brisbane & of course I have given everyone the week off just for a break as it has been crazy here with our End of Financial year & all the Covid reporting we have to do for each client- I just wanted to spend the week in the garden but AHHHHH !!! turned really cold.
Your hair looks fabulous – what have you done ??? Cheers Denise – Australia

  2. I suck at tomatoes. They've been in the ground for 4 months and have maybe 2 tomatoes on each plant. But the plants are huge.

  3. You and I planted up the same things- – bell peppers 🌶 and more tomatoes 🍅. I'm growing for just me but the rest will go to friends and neighbors here. I hope that you have a very prolific harvest in the near future.

  4. You have such a beautiful garden. My tomatoes aren't doing very well and would love to plant more but there aren't any available here. I had hopes of canning tomatoes and sauce this year but doesn't look like it will be possible. I am so happy you found some available.

  5. Rachael, google is your friend!! LOL Better Boy is indeterminate. Also if at night you go looking for the tomato horn worm, use a black light and they show up great! I use food safe 5 gal buckets for some plants. You can always get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. I just got some at Lowe's. It must say Food Safe or show the knife and fork. They will be white Drill holes in them and plant away.. Peppers do very well in them.

  6. You may try using a blacklight flashlight to help see the hornworms better. Have a great day!!!

  7. Tomatoes are my favorite things to grow. We get enough to last us a whole year, it's so rewarding! You have our favorite tomato food, it is great stuff! Amazon has cheap blacklight flashlights that make hornworms glow at night. Worm hunting at night is my wifes favorite thing to do in the garden. Great video!

  8. Have you considered a cattle panel greenhouse over your raised bed?? Love, love mine here in the dry side/cold side of Washington .

  9. Love looking deep in the soil to see the layers!! It won’t be long before you have a bunch of blushing tomatoes.

  10. My tomatoes got a late start so I'm letting most of the suckers grow. But pruning many of the leaves back at least half or more and I'm getting quite a few tomatoes this way. Best of luck with your tomatoes.

  11. I’m sorry if this question was asked already, I live close to you an I have a grub issue. Do you and if you do what do you use to get rid of?
I’ve been planting in bags! I hate that.

  12. On my 2nd crop of tomatoes I only use Determinant for Fall garden. The Determinate tomatoes give you 50 plus tomatoes all at once great for canners. The Indeterminate will give you a few over time and grow really tall.Hope that helps as you have helped many.
    God bless

  13. I'm jealous of your sandy native soil. I live at the base of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. There are so many rocks in our soil that it takes a pick ax to dig a hole. Because of this we grow all of our veggies and fruit in grow boxes that my husband built.

  14. Hey, so I just found your Channel and love it. So you said you where looking for hornworns take a black light flash light there great also basil around your plants help to keep them away! This year I haven't had any hornworns, but I do check with a black light Just in case!

  15. I love that I found another channel based here in Michigan! Took YouTube's algorithm long enough lol. I live here in Novi, MI (Metro Detroit).

Look forward to following your fall garden stuff. I recently planted some lettuce and a small first wave of radishes since the weather has dipped a bit this week.

Hope you're doing well and staying safe/sane.

    Nick

  16. I hate when my head and heart start arguing over another plant, that's when my hand takes over then it's already in my buggy. There are worse addictions!

  17. When planting a plant of any type that has been in a pot I tend to break a few roots or disturb them. I have had plants that continue to grow roots in a small circle like they had been “root trained” by the pot they were in. By disturbing the roots or breaking a few the plant is forced to put roots outward. Just a tip from my experience anyway!

  18. Last yr, I did potatoes, harvested in July, then planted some I had in the house not know if they would produce, but they were a great croup, harvested in Oct. Got about 50 lbs, I will fo again for sure.
